Re: removing style

Hello Kosaka, you can remove individual style formatting by clicking on the corresponding icons in the statusbar and choosing "Remove style". Have a look at the Nisus Writer Pro help (Help>Nisus Writer Pro Help); in the document that opens, go to page 12 (physical page 13) and read the subchapter ca...

Re: Download to windows, transfer to Mac?

You can download the disk image to any computer, Mac, PC, or Linux. Once you have downloaded the file, transfer it to your Mac and then open it.

Re: Check Spelling Hell

… requires you to save a file named "Nisus New File.dot" in your Library folder. But in OS X Lion, users are not allowed access to that folder. Hmmm. That is not quite true. The only change that Lion has made is that the Library folder is no longer as easily accessible as it was in previous version...

Re: save as in lion?

Hi Robert, apps that support AutoSave in Lion do not have the "Save As" command anymore. Instead, you can use the "Save a Version" command, or even the "Export" command. Nisus Writer Pro does not support AutoSave (yet?), so you can still perform "Save As" in Lion. Don't worry too much, though; even ...

Re: NW for iPad?

Nisus Writer Pro cannot open documents in the Pages file format. If you want to read the documents you created on your iPad, you'll have to e-mail the file as a Word document.

Re: NW for iPad?

Nisus Writer Pro will open these files effortlessly, although the document might look slightly differently if you decide to include images etc. For documents that contain text only, you should not notice any differences. And if there are any problems, the Nisus folks provide stellar customer support.

Re: NW for iPad?

Thanks for the tip -- I will give it a try. I do know that saving as a Word doc (in Nisus) doesn't work, so it never occurred to me that exporting would. Hi Candace, simply saving it as a Word document will create an RTF file with a .doc extension; Pages gets confused, and it simply cannot open tha...

Which is why Martin also included a link to the repository; just click on "repository" in his post to be taken to that part of the Nisus website.

Re: Reveal codes?

Hi, and welcome to Nisus! Nisus Writer Express does not have a Reveal Code feature similar to WordPerfect. However, if a some formatting strikes you as strange, you can simply select the paragraph and check the statusbar to see which formatting is applied. You should have a look at the help file tha...

Re: importing a .pdf into a .rtf?

You can't import a PDF file into Nisus Writer Pro and then edit its content. I would recommend that once you are done writing, you save your thesis as a PDF file and then use a PDF tool, such as Preview in Leopard and Snow Leopard, or Acrobat Pro, to add the appendix file to it and create a master P...

Re: View two pages at once?

Unfortunately, this feature has not been added yet, so even in this latest and greatest version of Nisus Writer Pro (v.1.4.1), you can't view two pages of a document at the same time.

There is currently no way to make Nisus Writer Pro do that. It has been requested many times, though, so who knows, perhaps it will be included in a future version.

Re: Cross Referencing Images

Hi Martin, allow me to add one more suggestion. One final tip about styles: you may find it best to create a "Figure Caption" paragraph style. This paragraph style could enforce not only the just created Figures list style, but also any other formatting you desire, eg: centering the caption. I would...

Re: how can i print alternate pages?

Hi, duplex printing is available in most applications on Mac OS X, provided that both your printer and the printer driver for Mac support this feature. If this is the case, you simply need to tick the correct box in the Print dialogue. These settings vary from printer to printer, so there's no sense...
