Re: Losing styles after rtf being edited by another program

Hello there, new user here. Hello and welcome to the Nisus forum. :-) whenever a rtf document is edited by any other program (e.g. TextEdit, DEVONthink Pro Office), it loses the Nisus Writer Pro Styles that's associated with it (Character Styles, Paragraph Styles etc). DEVONthink and TextEdit rely ...

Re: Hotkeys for paragraph styles

Multi-key shortcuts are explained on p. 573 in Nisus User's Guide. See "Menu Keys for Menu Commands." Nisus allows you to define shortcuts of up to 3 keys in length. That was long time ago. Now this limitation does not apply anymore. You can now use as many characters as you like, which I think is a...

Re: Text Variables in NWP 3?

Well, I'll have to look into that. Na, da bin ich gespannt … :-) Custom Properties and Glossaries are actually used for different things. Which one you use, depends on what you want to do. Scenario 1 Johann, your main character, is a Donaudampfschiffahrtsgesellschaftskapitän , and this word keeps c...

Re: Page Break -shortcut (cmd + Enter) no longer works?

I don't see keystrokes next to the command on the Menu. Bummer. […] If there's something I'm missing, like a keyboard shortcut way to do it, Please let me know! You can assign your own keyboard shortcuts to most if not all menu commands in Nisus by going to Nisus Preferences –> Menu Keys. See more,...

Re: Text Variables in NWP 3?

Is there anything in the way of text variables in NWP 3 like e.g. in Adobe InDesign? Isn't that called Document Properties in Nisus? Nisus comes with "Standard Properties" and customizable "Custom Properties"; both can be inserted from the Insert menu –> Document Property –> Custom Property –>(List...

Re: Textexpander and NW3

This is what happens in NW After clicking okay, "Duden Bedeutungswörterbuch Stichwort "Wunder"" is copied to the clipboard (of Copy Em Paste) and then the cursor in NW deletes ",dub" in the NW document. That's it. Are you using a MacBook Pro? If yes, you need to press additionally the fn-key after ...

in the Save As… dialog box there is an option to "Keep changes in original document". […] I think it's preferable to make sure that checkbox is unchecked before you hit the Save button in a Save As… dialog box. You are right Adrian, I have always left this checkbox unchecked. I should have mentione...

If I choose "Save As" and then switch to another program, when I go back to Nisus, the save dialog rolls up unexpectedly.
I use Default Folder too (v.5.2.4). By me the save dialog remains open.

Re: "Save As" bug?

I'll modify an existing document, choose “Save As,” and assign a name to the modified document. But when I go back to the original document, it’s now been replaced by the modified document! When you wrote this last July you were running OS 10.11.6. I'm running macOS Sierra 10.12.6 now. And guess wh...

there's not much we can do about these issues until the makers of our forum software package (phpBB) releases an update that fixes the bugs.
Thanks Martin, good to know.

Re: basic knowledge of Nisus templates

Hello everybody, this is a reply to Yohanan's last three posts in the thread "How do I apply a template to an existing document (RTF)" <http://nisus.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=31056#p31056> Both threads are tackling the same issue, so from now on it's best to keep the discussion in one thread only. :...

Glitch in the Forum software

Since the forum version was updated some time ago I'm seeing strange behavior that wasn't there before the update. 1) It doesn't seem to be possible now to upload more than 2 screenshots at a time, even though the added size is under 100 KB. 2) One of the screenshots tends to disappear if the Previe...

Re: How do I apply a template to an existing document (RTF)

Open a copy of a typical old file with layout (page size, margins, etc.) and all the styles you need and save it as a blank Nisus New File. I forgot to mention that it's not enough to just save it as a blank Nisus New File. You need to *tell* Nisus that you have a new "Nisus New File" now. Otherwis...
