Re: "Facing Columns"

No, there's been no progress. As far as I know, the only way to get "facing columns" on the mac is either through LaTex (adding the appropriate package), or using a page layout program such as Canvas, iCalamus, or InDesign. You CAN use Corel's old mac version of Wordperfect via Basilisk and Sheepsha...

Re: Problems opening documents

First questions: How much free space on your SSD? OS X requires about 10% of the disc capacity to be free for various things like virtual memory and so forth. So if you don't have around 30 GB free on a 500GB drive... that might explain some of it. Does Nisus demonstrate these same behaviors after a...

Re: Incompatibility of NWP and Sugarsync (+other clouds?)

Hmm. Interesting. I keep most of my documents on a Dropbox shared folder, and it works flawlessly. Heck, I've had the document open on both the laptop and the desktop in Nisus, and it still works--asking me if I want to reload the document from disk after it's been changed. Since Nisus documents are...

Re: Move Comments to Marked Text (in one swell foop)—Solved

Hmm. That's a subtle quirk there Philip. The Macro language guide, under the "Call" section, explains how to build a proper "Map" command, though you apparently have to hand build the function. You can no doubt do "filter" and "Reduce" the same way. I wish it was built in, though. The macro language...

Re: Move Comments to Marked Text (in one swell foop)—Solved

In short: arrayByMakingValuesDoCommand is "Map" in other languages. I wonder: is there an equivalent to "Filter" and "Reduce?"

Re: "Save As" bug?

I'll disagree slightly with phspaelti: this isn't a bug, but it's clearly not what you intended. What is going on is that Nisus is autosaving your document. When you save as, you are getting your new document, but at the same time the old one has been autosaved (likely just before you issued the "Sa...

Re: Forum issue: Macro attachments?

Assuming you are using the latest version of phpbb, this page talks about configuring email settings: https://www.phpbb.com/support/docs/en/3 ... al_client/

If you aren't using the latest phpbb, it's somewhere in the admin config.

Re: Forum issue: Macro attachments?

ZRTF files no longer appear either, which means many of the templates in the Templates forum are gone too.

I suspect overzealous security settings on the forum software. Is there a list of acceptable extensions now?

Re: Erratic mouse behaviour over tables

That sounds interesting. The only thing I can think of is if you've got a bunch of embedded stuff in the table; in particular images; and Nisus is trying to put up various overlays of data. Does it do it on a new document table that only contains text in the cells? Also, are there links or captions?

Re: Next update scheduled?

Historically Nisus releases an update around the time when Apple releases their operating system to everyone--i.e. out of Beta. However, if Mojave is crashing Nisus, and it's reproducible then they may release a fix earlier. I'm sure they would love crash logs, though. In case you don't know, If you...

Just to alert Martin: This thread no longer has links to the pleadings, as the extension has been banned or something. Thanks!

Edited in July 2018 to note that this issue appears to be fixed.

Best version of Nisus on Tiger

So I'm firing up my old Pismo I have lying around, running the last version of tiger, and I'm wondering what's the best version of Nisus Writer to put on it. I've been longing for perhaps a dedicated writing machine, and hey, the Pismo is a great if old laptop. So checking the version histories, it ...

Re: Automating PDF export with multiple files

Nisus has limited Applescript support, but one of the things you can do in Applescript is tell Nisus to run a macro. So I'd build a Nisus macro that saves the document as a PDF. The "Do Menu Macro With Macro" Command is the one you want. So, your service would be something like this (thanks to Kino)...

Re: Alt text for tables

I'm not quite sure what you mean by tagging the table... some sort of hover text that appears when you hover the mouse over it? Like an alt text for an image tag in HTML? Some possibilities: Add a comment to the entire table, and use that for the alt text. Perhaps use a callout box in a margin point...

Re: Search for (and optionally, replace styles).

This is indeed possible and in fact one of the strengths of Nisus. The easiest way I know is to find the style you want to replace... let's say Heading 1. Find it in the Style Palette. Select it. There's a gear menu in that palette, which allows you to find all in that style. Do that, then choose a ...
