Re: Prevent table splitting?

Thanks, everyone, for all the suggestions, but none of them address the actual requirements. Scaling, watermark, font size, none of these takes into account the fact that the position of the table will change depending on text above it anywhere in the document. Two rows might fit on a page, or 6, or...

Re: Prevent table splitting?

Thanks, Mark. What I am looking for, which I will request, is a feature similar to Framemaker in which you can (I don't remember exactly) either set a row to keep with next/previous, or set a table to not split (in which case it splits only if it is too large to fit on a single page IIRC) or set num...

Re: Prevent table splitting?

It's just a few rows, but it happens to fall near the bottom of the page. So it splits after one or two rows. All the headings and text just above the table are Keep with Next, as are the styles in the table cells, but the setting isn't honored inside the table. I will file a feature request. Yes I ...

Re: Prevent table splitting?

Well having a one-row table is not a solution, and honestly I'd barely call it a workaround. If the table rows honored the Keep With Next setting of the text in the table, that would do the trick. But I think a better solution would be to have Widow/Orphan and Keep With Next settings for the table. ...

Re: Problem with TOC styles

OK well I figured out the problem. The heading was set to "Include in TOC ==> Level 2." So to create a TOC, I have to manually always tell Nisus which headings are what, I guess. Well, that solves the other problem I asked about as well!

Another TOC problem

I have created a new TOC format. All I did was choose the Configure Styles for the Default TOC, then clicked New, then gave it a new name. So it should be identical to the Default TOC. But if I choose the new TOC and then Insert TOC, I get [No entries for this table of contents.] The only time I can...

Problem with TOC styles

I have a document with styles named Heading 1, Heading 2, and Heading 3. I created/edited 3 TOC styles and assigned them to the appropriate heading levels. However, the TOC is not being formatted properly. Heading 1 and 2 are showing up with the correct styles, TOC1 and TOC2. However, Heading 3 entr...

Save image?

Hi --

I opened up someone's .docx file and it has some screenshots. In Word, I can save these to disk as graphic files, but I can' find a way to do this in Nisus. Is it possible?

Thanks -- Barbara

Re: Prevent table splitting?

Since there haven't been any replies, is it safe to assume the answer is there is no way to do either of these things?

Thanks -- Barbara

Prevent table splitting?

Is there any way to keep all table rows together on the same page? And also to keep the text above the table with the table?

Thanks -- Barbara

Re: A couple cross-reference questions

Hi and thanks again. Maybe using the link model instead of xref will help explain what I am thinking of in terms of hidden bookmarks. Think of it as an HTML <anchor> tag. I think xref is the wrong metaphor, now that I've discovered links. Let's say I have a paragraph - here's a random example: "...

Re: A couple cross-reference questions

Thanks, Philip. That is great but it still doesn't show my where the xref is coming from. I suppose there could be multiple xrefs pointing to any particular bookmark. It's just an academic exercise at this point anyway. I did create a macro to create a hidden bookmark, then tried to create a second ...

Re: Find style not working

I kind of did that. I used the "Find all and show context" and modified it to "Find all xref style and show context." The extra step of adding the xref style is the piece I had to figure out. I'm coming from FrameMaker, where you can search directly for xrefs. So I'll just have t...

Re: Hidden bookmark?

Where does it say this? What it does say, is that the name of auto-named bookmarks is not displayed to the user. (Instead it uses the displayName.) My mistake. I misread this text: "Adds a new automatically-named bookmark to the text specified by the given TextSelection object. If isHidden is ...

Re: Find style not working

Well after much trial and error, I figured out that the Find box was set on Normal and it needed to be on one of the PowerFind settings. So I added that to the macro and it works.
