Re: New MacBookPro, error messages

1) the program will not open a document from the Finder window: I have to open NWP and then open the document from there. Why? If the problem is that the Finder warns you that your Nisus Writer files are from an unidentified developer, then Adrian's advice to configure the Finder to open all RTF fi...

Re: Formatting text of a cross-reference

1. how can I format the visible cross-reference text so it has its own identity, and 2. Same question for the target of the cross-ref. Philip already covered question #1 and showed the preference that allows you to enable on-screen highlighting to show cross-references. The same section of the pref...

Re: Paragraphs Starts Odd Page?

You can't enforce that a paragraph starts on an odd page with formatting or styles. You'll have to instead use an old-fashioned section break, via the menu:

Insert > Section Break > Odd Page

I hope that helps!

Re: To Markdown macro

I downloaded your "To Markdown" macro, and everything seems to work except for the Blockquote. The default style in NWP is "Block Quote" instead of "Blockquote". I don't know if that name change makes any difference in function. That's actually not the problem. Despite the macro comments talking ab...

I want to find a way of making them all have the "Footnote" style hanging indent, without having the "Normal" style first line indent as well. That is why I said "respect the ...

Re: Macro issues …

I just tried a simple test and see that the current version of default text does update existing footnotes. In which case these two macros can be assigned to the dustbin of history. That's true now. The footnote style does enforce "after text" for note references, and updates it automatically. But ...

Re: Macro to remove some applied formatting

Then you say you want to "remove the text color".Of course there always has to be some text color. I guess most people consider "black" the default. The command Set Text Color requires a color argument. I can't see a way to say "none". Instead of using these "Set" commands, it's probably better to ...

Re: Highlight paragraphs with border(s)

That's what it says in the macro language reference in two locations. I'm suspecting that there may be a typo somewhere It looks like paragraphLineAttributesForEdge is completely non-functional and MIA, sorry about that! I'll get it scheduled to be fixed in the next software update. Thank you for p...

How can I stop it besides quitting and re-opening Nisus?
If a macro is taking too long to finish executing you can abort it by pressing the Esc (Escape) key on your keyboard, or the keyboard shortcut Command + Period.

Re: Section breaks

Hello Mark! How do I switch off different headers and footers for sections? This should be possible for all sections beyond the first section. In other words, the checkboxes "Different Headers" and "Different Footers" should be enabled for sections 2 and greater. So what you want to do is turn off d...

Re: Stale Content: Bullet List

Thanks for your questions Matt. The short answer is that list bullets (and other list items) should never display as stale text or show using the [auto] placeholder. That generally indicates a temporary internal problem. It's an issue we've seen sporadically and it's on our list of issues to keep an...

Rest assured that we are committed to ensuring that Nisus Writer will run on Apple Silicon, whenever it is actually released. It's certainly exciting to see what will happen with Apple's custom chips and Mac hardware.

Re: New Mac: NWP loses connection to Bookends

Thank you for sharing that solution David. Offhand I don't recall when Apple added additional restrictions on how apps can communicate with one another, like Nisus Writer and Bookends do, but it may have been Catalina. It makes sense that Bookends would require automation to be enabled, even though ...
