Re: New Mac: NWP loses connection to Bookends

Hello David, I'm sorry you're having trouble with Nisus Writer and Bookends on your new Mac. They certainly should work together. I just tested Nisus Writer Pro version 3.1 with Bookends 13.4.3 on macOS Catalina and they appear to work together smoothly. I had no trouble with the Insert Citation men...

Re: ePub export fails

Thank you all the same for checking Abdassamad, and for providing a count of TOC entries. We'll test here and see if we can reproduce the problem. Thanks again!

Re: ePub export fails

If you have a few spare minutes, you might be able to recover the earlier version of your document that still has the problem. That would be helpful for us, though I understand if it's gone or you don't want to bother. One last quick question: do you have any guess as to how many TOC items your orig...

Re: Import from Style Library... query

I'm glad the solution was simple, and it was merely manually applied formatting getting in the way of styles. Manual formatting is simply any formatting that isn't enforced by styles, ie: when you select text in your document and use regular non-style formatting tools. That kind of formatting blocks...

Re: changing font size in non-roman script

I'm sorry you're having trouble Steve. In general you can change the font size of your text using a variety of tools. You can use the main menu Format > Size , but it's normally much more convenient to work through the Character palette. You can see the font size listed in the palette like this: cha...

Re: ePub export fails

Thanks for letting us know about this problem, and for sharing your solution. Would you be able to share your earlier document with us? I'd like to see the problem firsthand, where ePub export fails. That should not occur, even with a large number of headings or TOC entries. If you could send us you...

And I stress: It wasn't in NWP. It was in NWP as transferred to Word as transferred to I-don't-know-what.
Thanks for the extra details and for clearing Nisus Writer! 😇

Tip: Stepper Buttons in Nisus Writer

Even if you don't recognize the term "stepper", you're probably familiar with those little up/down arrow buttons you see in Nisus Writer and other apps: https://nisus.com/blogs/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/paragraph-spacing.png Nisus Writer Pro 3.1 and Nisus Writer Express 4.1 enhance stepper buttons....

Re: nisus/word issues (including Hebrew)

when one of my NWP files was opened in Word, it reversed the Hebrew. (And no one noticed, so the book was published with the Hebrew backward. Ouch. That is a big Ouch! I'm very sorry for the embarrassment. Did this problem occur recently? As mentioned in my prior reply, Nisus Writer Pro version 3 h...

Re: nisus/word issues (including Hebrew)

Hello Hannah, I'm sorry you're having trouble with your Hebrew file and Microsoft Word. I see that you submitted a feedback report about this issue too. However, the email address you gave us in your feedback report (the address from your academic institution) was incorrect or had a typo. We tried t...

Re: Sentence capitalization

I'll admit that the command has issues if you're applying it globally to an entire document. It's likely to introduce more errors than corrections. But as you mentioned a PowerFind Pro (aka regular expression, aka regex) is probably the best solution if you want to do that. Here's a somewhat naive r...

Re: "Find" text-field populates search strings from other applications

Ahh the find "scrap", that's a very old term from classic Mac OS 9, before the arrival of Mac OS X. In modern times the Mac system facilitates the information exchange via something called the pasteboard , which handles not only copy-paste, but also the shared search string, drag-drop, and a few oth...

Re: "Find" text-field populates search strings from other applications

There's currently no way to prevent this behavior of sharing the find expression, which is indeed standard and recommended by Apple. Hamid has requested an enhancement that we add an option to prevent this, and I'll be sure to add your vote. In the meantime the only recourse is to use undo (eg: Comm...

Re: Sentence capitalization

Thanks for appreciating Nisus Writer! I'm sorry this behavior was unexpected, but Nisus Writer is behaving as intended. Sentence capitalization means that the first letter of the first word in the sentence is capitalized, while the rest of the sentence is lowercased. Nisus Writer doesn't know that y...

Re: Tables - breaking row content over pages

The feature where an individual table row/cell is allowed to span multiple pages is something that we know our users would like to see added. It's certainly been requested before, and I'll add your vote that we should perhaps add it one day. Thanks for letting us know. In the meantime there is a wor...
