Re: Template not showing in Document Manager

I don't know that "expected" is the word I would use, but you have hit on the problem I was trying to describe above. It seems that Nisus only allows templates to be picked up by the Document Manager via the "Save (As)…" method, which in turn means that your synchronized macs won't/can't pick them u...

Re: How to create new file using a template

I'm not sure what your question is. Using "New $templatePath" is the way to do this. What else are you looking for?

Re: Template not showing in Document Manager

Yeah, that't the wrong way to go about it. But I totally understand. I tried the same and couldn't get it to work. I think you'll have to remove that one by hand. Instead use the "Save in Document Manager > Templates" command directly to create the template and save it. I must say however that I thi...

Re: Title Case macro

Hello Howard, There are actually a lot of macros floating around by now. I did check the last one I posted, and I do see that there is a problem with that one. So I am posting an update here. Note that this is also a package of 3 macros: the one called "Title Case Capitalization" is the one that doe...

Re: Deleting a cross reference

I'm at a little bit of a loss understanding your problem. A cross-reference is a single character, which will display as some automatically generated text (usually a page number or the like, but maybe a longer bit of marked text). Since it's only a single character I'm not sure why you are so reluct...

Re: character recognition

Dear Yohanan,
I honestly cannot say why you are having such problems. If I open your "Untitled 1.doc" in Nisus, it goes through the Libre Office translator and appears in French/Roman letters. It does not get transliterated into Greek for me.

You can assign Keyboard Shortcuts to your Styles:–

Nisus Writer Pro > Preferences > Menu Keys > Format > Paragraph Style > Sub-heading (say)
You can also assign keyboard shortcuts to styles directly in the style sheet.

Re: Title Case macro

I assume you are looking for something that will capitalize only the "content" words in the selected text, avoiding prepositions etc. Have a look here.

Wait a second! You are the same writerhoward who started that discussion too. Did you forget, or are you fishing for a different solution?

Re: Boolean searches

Hello John, "Boolean" searches is one of those terms… The point is that Find is not a search engine looking through a database, it's a pattern matching algorithm. So an "AND" search in this case would be a search for string1 followed by string2 . In the simplest case you just type them both into the...

Re: Upgrading Files

Hello Daniel, NWP's file format is .rtf which originally was a MS format, I believe. In my (limited) experience, Word opens rtf files just fine, and most Word users click on the rtf files I send them and are none the wiser, though Apple users might see the file open in TextEdit instead. Personally I...

Re: GREP

Hello levelbest, first let me make one important fix to Vance's basic idea. You shouldn't use the AnyTextCharacter wildcard. Spaces count as text characters and you are seeking to eliminate periods not followed by space. So you should probably use AnyWordCharacter instead. Now let's talk about the w...

Re: Word underline

Well, all of this quickly runs into the usual problem: should I write a quick-and-dirty macro that works for me, or try to create a new feature that works in the general case. I tend to find the latter to be something with diminishing returns. I personally believe one should avoid underline altogeth...

Re: Word underline

With a bit of fooling around, I managed to get a macro that does what I want — mostly. In the process, though, I discovered a curious thing: the “|” operator in the Find/Replace system is not commutative. If you had asked me beforehand I wouldn't have been able to answer that, but I'm not surprised...

Re: manual

On the subject of fonts, it seems you can’t now type in a font name in the Character Palette. I agree this is something you should be able to do. Typing the font name in the character palette works for me. :? What might be confusing is that there are two modes "Expanded" and "Condensed". The latter...

Re: To Bold all text between parentheses

AnyCharacter is generally going to be your best bet in most cases Actually I take that back. This is something that I find a bit annoying about the Nisus Wildcards. The most common wildcard in Regex is '.'. This is actually AnyTextCharacter in Nisus. The AnyCharacter wildcard in Nisus is actually t...
