Re: Columns and Text Boxes

Howdy. Yes, columns are supported, but not floating text boxes. For columns, Inthe upper right corner of the window you have a sliding drawer with additional palettes. Click on it. Then click on the 4th icon from the left, click on it (icon looks like page outline with margins). Then near the bottom...

Re: Dropper . . .

Hello Hamid, Thanks for the helpful information. Unfortunately, I need the ability to 'paint' the attributes onto the text (basically highlighting a lot of non-consecutive words which I use in my lectures) using a tablet and stylus. The dropper generally works fine, but is a bit sensitive (or, I'm ...

Oh oh. Now, you raised the hackles of our beloved Geoff. Just when it seemed he had cooled a little. :D

Re: Eliminating Alternating Headers & Footers

Howdy. You have to change the Nisus New File (Default template).

Nisus Writer Pro > Preferences > New File > Advanced > Edit Nisus New File When it is open, then click on the Palette for Writing Tools. Open the Section palette and make your changes. When done, be sure to save that Nisus New File.dot.

Re: PDF output

Or look at NeoOffice [currently at 3.1.1] which was the original port to Mac OS X. It is smoother and more stable than OO 3.2.1. I keep up with OO, but if I need critical work done, NeoOffice is my choice (for cross-platform work) - always.

Re: Some kind of XML

Howdy. I initially looked at NWP to do this, but didn't find it practical for my own use. Note: this is not a putdown of NWP, because I use it every day for writing, and it is absolutely great. About six months ago I purchased Circus Ponies Notebook . It automatically includes indexes of any term li...

Re: Text Color Screen Options

Howdy. Not sure I understand what you desire, but you could set up a character style for normal, then another for your color of choice (white). You can base paragraph styles on that character style, then when ready to print, etc. just change the paragraph style to be "normal" color.

If we have to go with Windows, then Nota Bene might be the best option?

I just checked, and Mariner, Mellel, Papyrus, and Ragtime all have a splash screen.

I would also like to see an Intel-only version of NWP (or at least the importer).

Re: NWP as default application

Howdy. In the Finder, Control+click on a .doc file and choose Get Info... In the resulting window, about ⅔ of the way down, it says “open with” select whatever application you want to use (i.e. Word), then click the box below “Always open with”.

Re: NW PRO won't open WORD 04 DOCs

Greetings. Looks like we both might be right. Nested Styles allows the user to adjust the length of the run-in, by using the "up to" portion, and then including something special, like the en-space. So in your example it would work. I was thinking using “styles“ for TOC,“ which it does; but that wil...

Re: NW PRO won't open WORD 04 DOCs

Some essential layout features are still missing, like titles extending over more columns, side headings, run-in headings.
Just a note: InDesign 6 (part of CS4) includes what is called nested styles, which allows run-in headings.
