Re: Nisus Writer Pro File blow out

If I remember correctly, not all graphic formats are placed as they are in Nisus Writer. They have to be converted, therefore duplicated. The original file is saved together with the converted version. Hence the bigger size. I can't find where this is explained in the manual, but I remember it was t...

Re: Future viability of Nisus

Thank you for the analysis, Vanceone. However, please note that Nisus has character styles as well.

Re: New Page

Sure! Go to the point where you want the new page, and choose Insert > Page Break or Section Break.

Re: Writing with Markdown syntax in NWP

Philippe, just to be sure you know: Nisus does have a Full Screen mode. It is a bit hidden, but it is there and very nice. 1. Switch to View > Draft mode. 2. Click on the Full Screen button (or invoke it from the View menu). You are alone with your text. If needed, the Navigator and Drawer can appea...

Re: Writing with Markdown syntax in NWP

I can only answer for myself. I started being interested to markdown when i started using an iPad. RTF is not supported well, and is rarely supported. The best writing apps are text-only. All considered, for rough drafting plain-text is not bad at all. It is small, which is a bonus in a 'cloudy' wor...

Yes, but I would say my solution is easier and faster.

Re: Can anyone tell me how to Find and Replace a Font?

I would move the insertion point inside a word in Arial, choose Select All from the Font/Character Attribute menu in the lower right corner of the document window, and when all the text in Arial is selected I would replace the font to Courier.

Re: "I spilled coffee on my beautiful Air."

You placed a one-dollar cup of coffee near your one thousand dollar laptop computer? Seriously?? It's something Americans do often. I've never understood why, since it is extremely dangerous and quite unhealthy. If you need a coffe, why not walking to the kitchen/common hall to have one? Maybe you ...

Re: The thesaurus needs improving

I don't know if I set the shortcut in some ways, but I can invoke the system thesaurus by tapping a word with three fingers. Maybe it's something in the Preferences.

Re: Nisus Writer and technical writing

Hi, Five years after my first message on this issue, things have greatly improved in Nisus-land. Today's Nisus Writer Pro is much more powerful than it was at the time. ToC and Bookmark links are now correctly saved into PDF files. Cross-references can point to ToC entries. Soft hyphens are there, a...

Re: Managing linked images

Philip, I'm not a software engineer, but by reading the macro language reference I cannot find anything useful for what I'm looking for. Let's hope for the next release.

Re: Managing linked images

Philip, THANK YOU VERY MUCH! You didn't even get the pleasure of making me wait and suffer a little, before sending it! Judging from the size of the resulting file, I guess images are embedded into the document. I'm looking through the macro manual to see if there is a way to add an option to avoid ...

Re: Managing linked images

Thank you very much, Philip, for you programming hints! Now, if the nice guys at Nisus want to add the missing parameters... :) Another thing that I would find very useful is a macro replacing strings in a particular format with linked images. There is a similar macro for InDesign, and it is very ha...

Re: Managing linked images

Hamid, Thank you very much for having let me discover such great collection of macros. However, the type of 'link' I was referring to was no to URLs, but to image files. When you insert an image into a Nisus document, you can choose not to include it in the document, but only place a link to the ext...

Managing linked images

Hi, I'm working on a document with a lot of linked images. There are some things I cannot fully understand. - To see the file path, I can just hover over the image. Is there a way to generate a list of all the paths of all linked images? (Maybe I could parse the RTF file with a text editor, and sear...
