Odd spell-check behavior with hyphenated words

I've encountered an odd spell-check bug in NWE 3.1 which may not have been present in earlier versions. If I make a typo in a hyphenated word, and run a spell-check using COMMAND-; (my standard procedure), it flags the whole hyphenated sequence when there's an error in one word, e.g. solid-sptate fo...

Re: Nisus Writer Express 3.1 released

I've been waiting for a Nisus Express update hoping it will fix some minor bugs in 3.0.2, but I was dismayed when I checked system requirements to find it required OSX 10.4. I'm still using 10.3.9, and upgrading to Leopard is not in the cards because of issues with peripherals and a large archive of...

Could the slow response be a memory problem? I'm still on 10.3.9, but NWE became agonizingly slow on my dual 1.8-GHz G5 with only 512 Meg of memory. Adding 2 gig of memory made a tremendous difference in NWE's response. I'm sure 10.5 needs much more memory than 10.3.9 did, and it may have crossed th...

I boosted memory on the PowerMac to 2.5 gig and it makes an impressive difference for Nisus Writer Express. NWE seems much more sensitive to memory swapping issues than my other software.

Slow opening of NWE 2.7

I use NWE both for writing articles and taking notes, so it's open virtually all the time, along with a few other programs, including Eudora, Safari, Acrobat Reader, and often Camino, MS Word, etc. This means I switch back and forth, often with several documents open in NWE. When I have been in a co...

Paste Path not working in 2.6

The Paste Path macro does not work at all in NWE 2.6, but worked fine in 2.5. I first tried it in the header and it did nothing. When I tried it in the body of the document, I saw nothing but it seemed to insert a space. I normally don't use most Macros, but this is one that I do use to label docume...

Spell checking in alpha

Has anyone using the latest alpha verified that the spell-checking bug which causes the loss of letters following the flagged word is fixed? I am still on 10.3.9 and it's not clear from what I read if the latest alpha will work with that version. Because I write for a living, I don't have a lot of t...

Next upgrade

I'm waiting eagerly for the next upgrade, hoping it fixed the spell check problems, which are getting so bad I'm going to have to switch. I don't like check as you type spellchecking because I take notes while on the phone, then fix them while reviewing them. With its multiple bugs and errors introd...

spell checker problems and limitations

I finally have identified the nature of the spell-check bug that makes other characters disappear. Check through the doment using COMMAND-;, and when you come to a typo with two or more possible choices hit COMMAND-OPTION-; to replace the misspelling. You get a drop-down list. Hit the scroll arrows ...

spell checker problems and limitations

The spell checker is a definite minus for Nisus Express; it lost functionality from Nisus writer. The lack of a "change all' or "ignore all" command for spellchecking is nuisance. I am also experiencing bugs that sometimes delete characters following the replaced incorrect word. That usually happens...

2.1.1 doesn't fix the spelling bug completely

The new version seems a big improvement from a little testing, but the bad news is that it doesn't kill the spell-checking bug completely. I see two manifestions when manually checking spelling in notes I took earlier. I was running through hitting COMMAND-; without the special spelling window open,...

Waiting for the update

Add me to the list of people waiting eagerly for the update. I think 2.0 may have crashed for me a few times, but 2.1 is a real problem, crashing a LOT. Usually it happens when I open a file and try to do something quickly. I'm on a dual 1.8-GHz G5, with plenty of memory and disk space. I've seen cr...
