Solution: don't use Document Manager.
I never have.
It adds a layer of confusion and obscurity to your daily routine, and that's something I don't need.
I have quite enough of that as it is.

Yes, please: twice a year would be ideal.

Re: Why is NWP so painfully slow?
I think it's really time you guys bit the bullet and rewrote the underlying code. Don't you think? Otherwise there will be this horrible fog of discontent that eats away at your user base. To mingle a few metaphors. I mean: the problem is so serious... No? If academics cannot use Nisus Pro because o...

Jester: when you write "For some reason when I shut down I get a bunch of "VBox Drive" or something that didn't appear before" I am guessing that somewhere back there you installed a Virtual Box, maybe for the free Sun Virtual Box machine, and now it won't go away. I did that mon...

Re: Book on Nisus Writer Pro
The way named styles are handled by Nisus Writer Pro enables texts to be carried across to say InDesign, with style information intact, which is rare and valuable. The HTML export facility (without CSS) enables good XHTML pages to be constructed. These are important points. The macro facility is exc...

Re: Exporting to HTML without stylesheet info
For over a decade now I have used a word processor to create an RTF file (or to convert a DOC file sent in) then a wonderful program called R2NET to translate the RTF file to XHTML. (Then BBedit to make it look nice.) (Nisus offers the best range of useful macros while in RTF format.) R2NET works in...

Inserted field e.g. Filename and Path: how to copy this text
I've inserted the field Insert > Document Property > File Path at the top of a NP file. How do I copy that information -- that is, the path and filename of that document -- and paste it into another document in another program, say into an email I wish to send? Using copy and paste, the result is th...

Re: Using Macros or other features to insert html code
Please be aware that there are hundreds more characters in a DOC file that need conversion to HTML other than italics and bold text. The Wc3 have a page of recommended convertor files here: http://www.w3.org/Tools/Word_proc_filters.html And here you can find the actual characters and their HTML equi...

Many thanks for your help, mrennie and martin. Our move to NWPro should alleviate the problem. And I take your point about confidential documents: thanks.

NWE loses page numbers when importing Word DOC file
My wife runs a literary agency, and uses NWExpress (six months old). She has been castigating her authors for sending in electronic files of the typescripts of their work minus the required page numbers. (If you print out a typescript without page numbers, and accidentally drop the bundle of pages, ...
