Also, the reason the flags are bigger than everything else in the status bar is because those icons are provided by OS X and they vary in size. Sometimes they can be huge and look really bad. If we use something other than flags, we might be able to fix this. Well, to keep on flogging this dead hor...

Yes, the status bar icons are a good, but apparently under-used, feature... for more discussion, see That American Flag thread, for more discussion, mainly around the language indicator. IMHO one way to make these 'select similarly formatted' commands more accessible, would be to add them to a 'Sele...

Thanks for the info Charles... IMHO it's good to see your reasoning discussed, and show that there are actually good reasons for just about everything you've done. :) As for the long post, well, it can be a hard life being the self-appointed UI-dweeb... and 'yes', I do have a little tendency of goin...

Possible changes to the status bar
Um... I'm not sure I see much complaint here about the presence of the icons, rather to the contrary, IMHO -- seems to be more about the 'stickiness' of the language setting. To me, there seems to be strong consensus that the icons are useful for quick reference, although in this context, I think th...

LinkBack support
I think what will convince the bigger guys to support something like LinkBack is its relative popularity. If people are out there buying products because they are LinkBack enabled, then that will make the big developers listen. I for one, know that I will be... I've been one of those bugging the Ni...

More toolbar commands and icons
Actually, I don't understand why you don't make it so any menu command can be added to the toolbar. Not a bad idea! I'm not sure what icons we would use unless we created an icon for each menu item...hm...what do you think? You could create unique icons for each item, but I would just create a &quo...

It's already been done
Ask and you shall receive! For those not on the Dartmouth Nisus list, Kino has already fixed this problem for us, and apparently this fix will be included in the next release. If you really want search in the NWX help now, follow the instructions below: I just tried it. For me, Mac Help did not open...

Re: Help Index
We can't help you at the moment. Help Viewer needs us to come up with keywords for every HTML page before the help is searchable. We know that's lame, but, it's true nonetheless. Bad Apple, that is lame. We didn't have time to make the keywords, but it is on the list. Mark, what about a bit of a co...

Multi-file documents in collaboration
My previous (Windows-only) word processor had a master document/subdocument feature. You could set up a master file (say for a book) and it would contain links to each subdocument (say the book chapters). ... I won't say that this was always a trouble-free venture, but it was helpful for large proj...

I had hoped that I could use this to switch to a particular group (e.g. tables), showing the drawer if it's hidden, focus the palettes within the group, and tab through the various settings, to make changes via the keyboard. This would equally apply to the floating palettes, if that were your prefe...

A bit slow on iBook G3 900
I too am finding NWE2 a bit slow, with the beachball making more than a few appearances. V1.1.2 was not a speed demon itself, but unfortunately the new version does feel a bit slower. For NWE2 to be truly competitive, I would really like it to be speedier, or at least as fast as Word, and Mellel. Un...

Re: Why use NWE for HTML?
Would also be nice to be able to select some text and attach a URL, so it could act as a hyperlink -- ( Use the system's "open" command to open it! -- that would open in in NWE if appropriate, or pass it to the default browser, or pdf reader, or... Note that that could work in a normal Ni...

Do you find auto-complete useful?
Does anyone actually find the auto-complete feature useful? I know that this is an OS-provided feature, but I've tended to feel it has marginal use... Nisus' preference to activate it permanently is an interesting attempt to make it more useful (as invoking it via the command key tends to undermine ...

Opening the individual palettes is good (you can hear it coming, right?!)... buuuuut, I'd really been hoping to be able to switch the drawer palette groups via a command key, but can't see how to achieve that -- so far as I can see, there's no menu item to switch these palettes, therefore there's no...
