Re: character recognition
Perhaps the problem is with Libre Office. Like Philip, opening the untitled1.doc directly in Nisus shows no problem. When I open the untitled1.doc in LO, everything appears fine. But when the document is then saved in LO as rtf, and Nisus opens that rtf file, the second line appears in Greek charact...

Re: Stopping Cro Magnon man
I hadn't opened the New File file itself, but doing so and making the settings worked.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Stopping Cro Magnon man
Martin, Thank you for the reply. I was referring to the icons that appear down the left side of the window at the first line of each paragraph where formatting changed. The icon in the status bar makes it simple to turn displaying the icons on/off. I was hoping there is a way to change the default f...

Stopping Cro Magnon man
I found how to turn the palletes off in a New Document. How can I stop Cro Magnon man and his children from showing up automatically in the left border with every new document into which I paste text from another document? Show Changes Icons in Margin toggles it in an open document. How can I change...

Re: Quirky behavior in 3.0
Martin, Thank you. The absolute path bit is helpful and made the changes. Is there a more concise way to write the line that finds the next 2-byte Japanese character -- including hiragana, katakana, and kanji, not including numbers and punctuation? Regarding execution of this and similar macros, it ...

Re: Quirky behavior in 3.0
is the problem that the macro is slow and thus takes effect later than you expect? Yes. Here is one: Find '(?:\\p{Hiragana}|(?<=\\p{Hiragana})\\u30FC)|(?:\\p{Katakana}|(?<=\\p{Katakana})\\u30FC)|(?:\\p{Han})', 'E' Macro:editing macros:SetEnglishFont where SetEnglishFont is # SetEnglishFont Format:La...

Slower menu macros in Pro 3.0
While different from Simeon's problem, I have found a different one of delayed response = slowed work. I use glossary entries extensively, and numerous macros that are as simple as deleting text from the current cursor position to various positions in the text below. Glossary expansions are not grea...

Re: NWPro 3.0 macro ref
Indeed. After starting up this morning, it all looks normal.
It may have been from upgrading from within Pro2 and not then quitting and rebooting Nisus.

NWPro 3.0 macro ref
Just upgraded, and 3.0 looks great. Opened the macro reference to see what might be new there, and found that just about everything has a red dotted underline.
Is this just here, or is there a reason?

Re: How do I apply a template to an existing document (RTF)
I wrote "These files used to be in the (hidden) system Library folder, but no longer. "
That should be "These _folders_ used to be...."

Re: How do I apply a template to an existing document (RTF)
For my work I basically do not use/need styles or templates at all, but your mention of glossaries caught my eye. I use those _a lot_. So I looked at your second to last post, and the solution may be quite simple. I let Nisus install what it wants to install where it wants to find whatever it needs....
m not sure about using email to post replies to forum threads
Thank you for looking into this, Martin. Re: Forum issue: Macro attachments?
I'm glad there was another reply, but that seems to bring up another problem. I'm pretty sure I'm "subscribed" to this forum, which should mean I get an email when there is a new post. But I did not receive an email in response to my reply to Philip or my own post (that does does not surpr...

I experienced the same problem.
But this message is really just a test of the ability to respond via email.
