I write academically and the thing I need most of all is more control over footnote reference styles. I need to be able to easily have suprscripted numbers in the text and non-superscripted numbers in the note itself.

Ack. On a lark, I opened up an old Word document of mine. Footnotes are constantly renumbered on each page (all beginning with 1), there's an indent on every block quotation, and if I have more than one footnote on a page, all notes after the first are indented (like a weird hanging indent). Yeah, ...

Footnotes coming over from Word

I have an outline that I wrote in Word and it has many footnotes. I have tried to open in NWX 2.5 rc2 and some of the footnotes appear in the text and a blank note at the bottom. I then tried opening the doc in NeoOffice and saving it as a .rtf doc. Well the note now at least appear at the bottom of...

I suspect that is partly because in NWX it appears that footnoting is implimented almost completely via styles, whereas in Word or NeoOffice while there are styles for the note number etc., the footnote feature is not implimented via the styles. I am just guessing on this and would love one of the N...

Formatting footnotes

I have commented on this before but it is still the same in b5. There is no way to modify the style of the footnote number in the note itself without messing up the superscripted number in the text. I hope that there are plans to address this in the near future. I need to be able to make the number ...

Well I can change the font, but it really has no effect on the way the numbers look. For example, I can change it to Zapf Dingbats and it will tell me that the number is in that font. But the way it looks is unaffected by that. You can "change" the font for the note number by changing the ...

Footnote formats

I have noticed that there seems to be no way to control the format of the footnote reference number in the note itself separately from the reference number in the text. This is a problem as many stylesheets for academic writing want the number in the note text to be on the baseline and not superscri...

Re: Speaking of the space

I have some macros that I wrote to add "canned" comments to papers I am grading. I do not want them to add a space in front of the pasted text, but they do. Does anyone know a trick to make that stop or is that the bug reappearing in a new place. Would you be willing to share? I used to h...

Endnotes

Hi- 3. Endnotes: It's inconsistently taking me to a new endnote when it's created. Most of the time it will just leave me at the note number I've just inserted...I have to manually go to the note itself (or use contextual menu). Quitting and restarting does not necessarily help this. Adam I explici...

Repeat style

I like to correct papers using NWX. I have written macros that change the text to red (by calling a character style which does nothing but switch the font color to Red, I wish I knew how to make it pick up the font in current use) and then write a "canned" comment in the document I am grad...

Paragraph style associated with outline level

I want to change the paragraphy style that is associated with each level of the Outline. My reason is that I like to vary the amount of space between paragraphs depending on the level of the outline. I have not found a way to do this in Beta 2.5b on Tiger 10.4.2. Is there a way?

Thank you!
