Bug? Nisus 3 seemingly randomly "Typesetting Text..." and sluggish, 50% CPU use, in long doc already open for hours
Hi, Sometimes Nisus 3 refuses to search in my document without first spending 15-30 seconds "Typesetting Text", even though the document has been open for hours or days. Other times it searches the whole document instantly. Same document. This seems like a bug, or something that needs to b...

Re: How to replace png image with PDF version and keep size and spacing?
So here is an improved version that should skip images for which it has no pdf file. Hi Philip, Thank you. I lodaded it and I got an error, and I'm unsure I'm using it correctly. When the very first dialog box opens from the macro, should I choose the folder that has the original pdf files? That's ...

Re: How to replace png image with PDF version and keep size and spacing?
The behavior you describe sounds strange to me, but I'm not really confident about these things myself. As I said, worst comes to worst, you should be able to accomplish what you want with a macro. Here is one you could try (on a copy of your document, please). The macro will prompt you for a folde...

Re: How to replace png image with PDF version and keep size and spacing?
If you select an image and use "Insert Image" does the replacing image not maintain the size? I did try that; and just tried again to doublecheck: what happens is "insert image" is greyed-out. Apparently I can't insert an image with one selected. My memory of Version 2 was that ...

How to replace png image with PDF version and keep size and spacing?
Hi, Background to the problem: I've discovered that, somehow, my pdf drawings in files made in Nisus Version 2 have all been converted into .png format (when opened in Version 2 or in Version 3; the original .pdf seems to be gone.) I understand that that should only happen with copy/paste imports, b...

Re: Is "Find Next" possible by attribute (text colour)
It's not a bug per se, since the poor macro is just doing what it was told to do  But we can certainly change its behavior. Please download and install a fresh copy of the macro. I've amended the macro so it should now do what you want, matching contiguous blocks of colored text as a single f...

Re: Is "Find Next" possible by attribute (text colour)
Here's another solution for you: a Find Color Groups macro that shows a list of all non-black text in your document, grouped by similar colors. Thanks Martin. That's potentially useful, but I'm having a problem with it in the Results List, which I ran into a few weeks ago also in some other search....

Re: Is "Find Next" possible by attribute (text colour)
All these methods are fine, but there is a caveat: it depends on how the color was applied in the first place. By this I mean that they will only work if the chosen color is exactly the same in each instance. Agreed. I had planned for this (in a general way) by creating a splotch on the Apple Color...

Re: Is "Find Next" possible by attribute (text colour)
@johseb, @phspaelti Thank you both. The Formatting Examiner is exactly what I need, and I'm delighted that I can use it for other things also. And I've tested the 'Wild Card' method in the Find Dialog box, and it does the same. And I've even discovered that there's a popup at the bottom of the page,...

Is "Find Next" possible by attribute (text colour)
Hi, I've tried the macros, the Find dialog, and the manual, and AFAIK it's not possible to do a "Find Next" search by attribute. To clarify: I have text that has a certain colour applied, a shade of blue, here and there in a long book, and I have a reason for examining them one after anoth...

Re: NWP documents don't remember Apple Dock status
We just released version 3.2.1 which will properly restore document window minimization state when relaunching the app. Wow, that's service! Less than a week I think! :D . (Probably accidentally hit before the release, but even so!) My first test of 3.2.1: Works. Plus, I didn't mention, but when th...

Re: NWP documents don't remember Apple Dock status
...It would definitely be nice if Nisus Writer remembered which document windows were minimized in the Dock. I'll file a request that Nisus Writer should restore this windowing state after relaunching the app. Thanks very much Martin. I guess I should have asked this three years ago, and then it wo...

NWP documents don't remember Apple Dock status
Hi, I'm currently working with about 15 NWP documents open, and about 12 of those I keep in the Apple Dock. (I find this convenient because some are long, and this way I don't need to wait for them to open if I need a quick look at them.) Problem: Whenever there's a need to quit Nisus (or restart th...

Re: Footnote spacing in 2nd line wonky when centered.
However, Nisus Writer Pro version 3 does have a new option that might help you. When you enable "multiple notes per line" you can now choose an automatically enforced horizontal spacing amount that is fixed between all notes. Here's an example of the results: Martin thanks, and forgive me...
