freaking massive memory leak
After opening and closing a dozen or so rtfs and WordPerfect documents (some with complicated tables, footnotes &c.) in NWP, I started wondering why my computer was responding so slowly. The culprit: NWP - with no documents open - was using 780MB of real memory, and was slowly but steadily incre...

Re: Desired NWP1.2 Features
On the two views of the same document discussion above -- on the rare occasions when I've needed to do this lately, I've just saved a PDF of the doc. to a temporary file, & opened the PDF in Preview. Without an actual split screen, there isn't much gain to having the second copy open in NWP (esp...

Re: Desired NWP1.2 Features
Just checking back into these forums after a while away....I would still argue against any effort being expended on the document manager -- the examples people have given of how they use it are all things that could be accomplished perfectly well, if not better, using the Finder, esp. as in Leopard ...

Re: Desired NWP1.2 Features
1) With all due respect, I don't get when anyone would want developers spending their time adding features to the document manager. I'd rather see it scrapped, or at least left to languish. I can't stand it when apps. try to tell me where to put my files. And nearly every project I'm working on has ...

Re: What to do about Word's track changes feature?
I gave up and bought Microsoft Office during the pre-release promo. With the rebate they were offering it was like $50. I just use Word when I need to deal with co-authored stuff. Fortunately I've finished my main co-authored project (coming out from Routledge one week from today! woohoo!) so I don'...

Re: Fonts and lists
Well 5 months later I ran into the same problem & had to look up my post here to remember how to resolve it....list styles in NWP 1.1 still don't inherit the font from Normal :( . And again, I didn't recognize "(select a list level above to change its settings using the Lists palette)"...

Thanks, renaming works as a stopgap. But -- given that OS X uses UTIs to identify files rather than file extensions, and that Quick Look identifies files by their UTIs (it doesn't use the file extension at all -- I've been digging into the Quick Look documentation for another project.....), it shoul...

Saving with NWP breaks Quick Look for .doc files
I have a number of .doc files . When I view one with Quick Look in the Leopard Finder, it displays the content as expected. However, if I open one, edit it, and save it with NWP, Quick Look stops working: instead of the file contents, Quick Look just displays a NWP doc icon. Likewise if Finder is se...

A few PowerFind issues
1) I was using PowerFind with a capture for the first time today, and kept running into a situation where a search which worked fine prior to adding the capture would stop working after I added a capture. The problem seems to be that if you add a capture, then double-click to select then drag the ca...

why did it have to be Perl? / additional languages
I've invested time, energy and money in learning Python and Ruby in recent years & am reluctant to dig into Perl just for NWP since those two and Applescript are meeting my other scripting needs......is there any chance of adding support for Python or Ruby-based NWP macros in future versions?

Fonts and lists
Two suggestions: 1) list styles should inherit the default font from whatever's set in the Normal style in a new file rather than automatically being in Times New Roman. 2) The text below the sample list in the list styles in Style Sheet view should really say "(select a list level above to cha...
