managing page numbers in multiple documents

Is there a way I can set the starting page number for each document when managing multiple documents as parts of a single opus? I am writing a book with many chapters and had to store each chapter in its own file for efficiency reasons; collecting them together again would make a huge file, drastica...

numbered footnotes ~ default/custom style

It seems that MS Word has been around for so long that some people have forgotten that a footnote number doesn't have to be in superscript: in fact, the footnote list should look like a regular numbered list, and it's only the reference number [in text] that's expected to be in superscript. As a mat...

Neither of these: I'm using NWP to prepare 5 online courses for learning to program (from scratch) in Python, Squeak, Lisp, Prolog and C: the animated gif files are supposed to show what happens when pushing objects on the stack, moving pointers, sending messages, handling queues, polling network so...

Contrastively, the animated gif are actually animated from within TextEdit: very handy to check you inserted the right file...

The same document opened with Apple's pages program won't show the animation proper but exporting to html will correctly link to the animated graphics.

inlined graphics: animated gif

When using the rtf format, inserting images converts the graphic data for inline storage. However this scheme won't let you render an animated gif to html: it's converted to png format, given a meaningless name, and trimmed to its first frame — the rest is lost, since png files only support a single...

mangled relative href links

It looks like there's a problem when rendering hyperlinks to html: if the links are specified as an absolute URL, there won't be any problem; but if they're relative to a local subfolder, they will be rendered with a "http://" prefix anyhow, and they won't work. I mean, instead of: href=&q...

rendering as PDF: live links in TOC and index

Is there a way to render a document as PDF so that it would show its bookmarked items in the bookmark drawer? And how can you make each item in the table of contents link to its original position in the document? In other words, how can you build a live table of contents for PDF use, either in the d...

This behavior is an OS X standard, unless the escape key is re-programmed to do something else.

Thanks for that suggestion! Why stress over one conflict? Simply because (1) this wasn't an issue before NWP came around, (2) it's not a single conflict, there are many, and (3) for the sake of consistency. I already use so many applications that if each of them had its own key-binding for the very ...

In fact I was talking too fast: while working with NWX, having defined the shifted command L keyboard shortcut, I used it about 15 times, and suddenly, it went like: poof, no more lower case for you buddy! The convert service still shows this function with the proper key binding — but it simply does...

conflicting redefinition of menu keys

This is an issue I had never met with NW eXpress: I once assigned the shifted command U , C and L to the convert to uppercase, capitalized and lowercase menu items, and never had any problem. In NW pro, I've assigned them three times already — to the very same keys — but it seems the assignments are...
