Re: Initials
Oh, nice idea! Didn't try it. Seems to be a little bit tricky with the spacing of the lines (in your example line 4 has an additional space, what is not wanted). I made it now by inserting graphics of the big letters. It worked fine and it wasn't as complicated as I feared. Enclosed an example how i...

Re: Initials
No, does not help. My desired initial does not stand on the first line. I fear, the only way to accomplish that task is to insert the initials as graphics, what is a little bit complicated (I have 20 chapters which should each beginn with initials).
But anyway, thanks for thinking about my problem

Is there a way to create initial letters with Nisus?
Enclosed a snapshot how it should look like.

Re: Mac Spellchecker flags ligatures fi and fl as wrong
Perhaps it is a font problem that the Nisus ligature feature does not work. I have the opposite problem, it works although I don't want ligatures. I don't want ligatures because if I create a pdf of a Nisus document with ligatures Apple's Preview does not find words with ligatures. That's obviously ...

Re: Find next unbalanced parentheses
Perfect! It does exactly what I wanted.
And I found that it is really better to do the correction manually, because there are for example occurences {…) where the macro can not decide what is correct (…) or {…}.
Thank you very much!

Re: Find next unbalanced parentheses
Thank you very much, Philip, for your macro. I am not familiar with the Nisus macro language and could not have made it. It produces an error in line 22. I try to translate the error from the German: the attribute "location" requires an object, but instead of that "undefined" was...

This was also one of my first thoughts when the problem came with version 2.1. I unchecked the box, the problem persists.Michael T wrote:You can disable AutoSave globally (system wide): go to System Preferences ->General, uncheck the box besides "Ask to keep changes when closing documents".

Re: Autosave
2.1.1 is a big disappointment for me because it is still not possible to switch off Apple's autosave. This feature is unreasonable for persons who are working on large documents. On the internet I found a terminal command to switch off autosave: defaults write -app 'name of app' ApplePersistence -bo...

Re: Autosave
After some days working now with the new autosave feature I can confirm, that it is really very annoying. Every time I pause, MacOS saves the document, maybe 10-20 times in 5 minutes. Saving of my 600 pages document needs about 7 seconds. So every time I want to go on I have to wait until the spinni...

Re: Autosave
OK, I understood, thanks for the answers. I hope Apple handles the auto-save/versioning feature reasonable. I am working every day on a now 600 page text document, command-save is my normal action about every 10-15 minutes. I have over 8.000 older versions of this 3,5 MB document in my dropbox. I do...

Autosave
NW 2.1 uses the MacOS autosave function. I don't like that because I fear that my hard disc will soon be filled. Can I turn it off? In former times it was possible in the Saving preferences to choose autosave (without keeping older versions) and after how many minutes a document is autosaved. Now th...

Re: sections, headers and columns
Yes, Philip, you are right: Number 3 ist the heart of the problem. In Nisus Classic it was so easy: I fixed a header to a paragraph and the header appeared at the head of the page where the paragraph started and on the following pages until a new header was fixed at another paragraph. This combinati...
