Sort of. There's two components to Words "revision" tool. The one you are referring to is the one where every single change, addition, deletion, what have you is noted in the right hand column. You're right, it's annoying as all get out. The other one that most of us are referring to is &...

I know Word comments are an oft-asked for feature, and you're correct, Word is the only one that does it. Boy are they easy to get used to. Actually Pages has the comment feature and it is compatible with Word, so I'd love to see that eventually show up in Nisus Writer (probably Pro) and then I cou...

Re: Pro

............ the only way I will "reinvest" in the Pro version is if it features automatic read/write of the new Word format. .... Given that MS have not long released the specs for their format, I really can't see this version of NWPro supporting it. Neither will you be able to 'save as'...

Re: NisusWriter Pro

Please please please tell us that MailMerge is also in. Please please please tell us that invisible text style is also in. And, oh, will the pro version read Classic TOC and index formats? What about the graphics layer? Rick I suspect Pro will eventually have more features, but I'm thrilled with wh...

So far I've written syllabi for several courses, the faculty minutes as part of my faculty secretary duties, and the non-fiction short story collection I'm assembling. For the latter I do import/export with Word, however, so I can periodically get a Table of Contents for printout. If NWE adds TOC ca...

In my experience NWE can't handle longer documents (more than 50 pages) and/or a lot of footnotes (more than say 50). On my computer those documents keep crashing all the time. Sending them to Nisus has not helped at all. For now, I had to go back to Word since unfortunately NWE is virtually useles...

I would suspect, as you do, the document. One of the things I like most about Nisus is not having to wonder when it's going to crash or lock up do some bizarre thing right in the middle of important - or even unimportant work. The one major crash I did have - about two months ago - was with a docume...

Noting the date and author on each printed copy of a work, even if you haven't actually filed a copyright application, can give you protection until you actually publish a work.

I just tried and Spotlight won't index any .rtf documents. Since I've been converting a lot of my syllabi and other academic documents into NWE it would be nice to be able to locate them using Spotlight. Solved my own problem. Did a Get Info on the Nisus Documents folder. Clicked the lock to unlock...

For me at least, there is also 2.5, send your paper to co-authors for comments/revisions, 2.6 review co-authors comments/revisions, and 2.7, fight with co-authors about comments/revisions. It's not a problem I have very often. Whenever I have needed comments they are usually done in coloured text w...

That's not really a feature request. It's more a fantasy wish.

If you find software with that feature, please let me know I can recommend it to all my students.

I've got a new black MacBook and NWE 2.7 really flies. Actually Word does pretty well because of MB speed even though it's a Rosetta app, but Nisus being universal (and Cocoa) is my WP workhorse now. I even put a little promo in one of the entries on my blog on my new website I've created with iWeb,...

Select a Word file, then Ctrl-Click for Get Info.
Select NWE for the "Open With"
Select the option to open all such files with NWE.
Then any Word file (.doc) that you double click will open in NWE.
