I was specifically thinking about using this feature in a macro. To do that I think you want to specify the style you are searching for in the macro.

The poll doesn't seem to include my choice: improved AppleScript support. However, Our next release will also include greatly expanded support for AppleScript, which will provide an easy-to-use language that can work directly on text and access the Find and Replace engine. This is great news. I don'...

I actually use the view pop-up menu, and the toggle for the tool drawer. I keep things in text only so they don't waste a lot of space.

Poll: Icons vs Text in toolbar

Some of my coworkers were discussing the usefulness of icons vs text yesterday. I was wondering what people thought

I like Peter's suggestion also. Better yet, my suggestion from some previous thread: Have paragraph rulers only override the character attributes they specify. Then if you specified the font, ink color, size, etc you would have the behavior from 2.0 and if you didn't you would have the behavior from...

However, based on his description of the situation, we have no idea if that's Tacitus' problem. True enough, although it is not only Tacitus' problem. I got lots of styles in my style sheet for every named ruler I had in a classic document I just openned. For instance I had a named ruler called &qu...

Re: Classic to NWE 2.1 conversion

the earlier version 2.0 interpreted Nisus 6.5 styles correctly. Although 2.0 interpreted Nisus 6.5 styles correctly, it did not import named rulers at all. NWE 2.1 appears to convert named rulers to paragraph styles. Since named rulers act essentially the same as paragraph styles do in NWE, this se...

Next style?

What does the "next style" field in the style sheet do? I have a "Header 1" style with its next style field set to Normal. I thought that the result would be that, after I typed my header and hit return, the next paragraph would be in my Normal style, but it isn't. It is in Heade...

Re: How to make a checkbox

That would work but it would be easier to go to the "Special Character" pallette and select one of the boxes under miscellaneous.

Yeah, I always forget about that feature. Maybe I should have it override command-v and make normal paste shift-command-v.

Thanks.

When you apply a paragraph style, it will still remove any other paragraph-level settings such as the ruler, but it will leave character-level formatting in place. What happens if you apply a paragraph style that is based on a character style? If you want a fast and easy way to remove all this extr...

Strikes me, one way to do it might be the following: Before starting applying Styles, create the necessary Character Styles – italic, semibold, etc – then highlight one instance of italic, semibold etc, choose Select All from one of the little icons at the bottom of the page and just apply the Char...

Right, it wouldn't have helped with your old document, but I got the feeling that it was too late for your old document anyway. :(
