Making a booklet

Contented, non-pissed off new NWX user here. I have found the File>Page Setup>Settings>Custom Paper Size menu option to be very helpful in composing new documents with unusual dimensions. Here's how I'd make a booklet: Hit "New" and input the dimensions you want your booklet to be – use th...

Cole & Haag have come to define the industry standard for screenplay formatting. See: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0929583000/ref=ase_screenwritersgui/102-6304393-0352906?v=glance&s=books Warner Brothers also has a popular format that you can find in Final Draft. About scene...

FD Killer

More than most kinds of writing, screenwriting is about adhering to strict formatting rules and constant word-repetition. The screenwriter wants to be freed from this drudgery so he can focus on being a creative artist, writing plot and dialogue. If you’re serious about making a Final Draft Killer –...

FD Killer

Glad you enjoyed my account of my trip to Nisus HQ. The people there certainly put the ‘nice’ in Nisus, as they were gracious hosts who welcomed an unannounced stranger like myself as if I were part of the family. Regarding Final Draft, I have been desperate to find a well engineered application for...

My Experience.

My experience with the 184-page footnoteless document that I'm working on matches Charles's statement pretty well. It's a tedious thirty seconds to open, but once it does, it's far more responsive than version one ever was, nearly on par with MS Word. Under light pressure, the spinning beach ball is...

Adding my first impressions.

First impressions are sometimes the most important ones. So here’s mine. Overall I’m delighted with 2.0. I believe that I can proudly make it the workhorse of my writing life, the best word-processor I’ve ever used (a journey that goes back fifteen years to WriteNow 2.0). Much has been improved, but...

correction

Actually I meant "a wide, frosty *mug* of Maneschewitz..." A tall glass would be gauche. My apologies, Mark.

Wait a minute... Are you saying that all the other stuff I said is true?

Here's how it will happen, folks...

Marc is almost right: Nisus is going to *intend* to release it on the 10th, but the alarming, last-minute discovery of a crucial bug with the new tables feature will force Charles and his minions to work feverishly over the weekend to eliminate the problem. All of this will all occur in secret, of c...

Tension grows...

The tension keeps building every day. It's like the movie "Fatal Attraction", but with less sex and more word-processing.

"Mysterious" Courier Final Draft

You must have the screenwriting application, Final Draft, installed on your computer. The font, Courier Final Draft, gets installed along with the application and it's intended to give screenwriters at least a limited choice in chosing fonts. (In this respect Hollywood is stuck in a 1940s mentality....

He must be using Nisus O'Writer Express. Very popular with leprechauns and melancholy poets.

That, or he's colorblind.

Forgetting Spacing & Page Numbering

NWE forgets the line-spacing of my document every time I open it. It seems to have a thing for 1.5 spacing and I have to reset it to my preference, 1.1, every time. Same thing with page numbering after section breaks. NWE restarts the numbering at 1 after every section break, no matter how many time...

Slide different

The slider is definitely a plus. Besides having a major "wow" factor, it allows for maximum trial-and-error style experimentation when looking for the right size. It gives the user a direct control over fonts that's almost tactile - like you're shaping words with your own hands. Finally do...
