Re: Running headers/footers
Hi Martin, Any plan to add this anytime soon? I see you used running header in Nisus' manual, so I guess this could be of use to you as well. In the meantime, I wonder if someone could write a macro that does the same thing that happened in the old PageMaker: adding running headers at once, as the l...

Table Styles
Hi, As a technical writer, my documents are always full of tables. And it constantly happens that some of the team members sends me back the proofed draft with the "why not lighten the heading cell color in all tables" note. Now, this is super-easy to do in InDesign, since there are styles...

Re: Em spaces, en spaces, etc.
Martin, You could always add the space using the menu Insert > Special Character > Customize Special Characters . Once that's done you can assign it a keyboard shortcut. That's it. I'm ashamed I couldn't find this elegant solution myself. Thank you! Elbrecht, modifying any keyboard is easily done wi...

Re: Em spaces, en spaces, etc.
I reopen this thread after a long time, because I'm in need of a quick way to insert em-spaces. I remember in the past this to be very easy: type Shift-Opt-Space, and you get an em-space in any Mac application. Now, this seems to have gone. I tried with the various Italian keyboards, the US English,...

Re: List Styles
I don't know if this can already be done, but I would love the "Restart numbering" flag to be saved into a paragraph style. Nisus would work in the same way as InDesign, where I can have a "Numbered 1" style for the first item of a list, and a "Numbered" style for all t...

Re: Equation Editor
I second the question about Grapher. I've always found it adequete for transcribing my simple formulas (math and logic), but I'm not a mathematician. Is it too simple for advanced use, or is it just that the name hides its nature of equation editor?

Re: Format change for multiple open documents
As far as I know, there isn't a way to format all open documents at once. However, I guess you know that copying formats between documents is as easy as opening the Style Sheet view, selecting all styles, and dragging them onto a target document that you want to reformat. I would love to see a Binde...

Re: George RR Martin still uses WordStar 4.0 for Microsoft D
Over the years, Nisus' fullscreen mode (the one you can access from the Draft view) has greatly improved, and is now not far from Scrivener's. I admit working there most of the time, since it proves to be a great distraction-free environment. Shortcuts to show/hide the Navigator is a joy with long t...

Re: "Layers" and background image in NWP to make a Word doc
I use the Myriad Pro set that comes with the Creative Suite, and it can be embedded in the PDFs I generate with InDesign CS6. Maybe the licence is different for sets purchased separately?

Re: "Layers" and background image in NWP to make a Word doc
Happy you found some viable solutions! NWP is as easy and elegant as Pages, and as powerful as Word. So, I suggest to try it when complex text document have to be written. As my everyday writing tool, I've been using it for years for academic and technical writings, and it has always been great. Paolo

Re: "Layers" and background image in NWP to make a Word doc
I wonder if using forms in a PDF document could work. You could create your template with InDesign, and let your customer fill it with their text using Adobe Reader. But I've never tried, so I don't know if this might work. NWP's strenght is in managing text, more than graphics. So, I fear it could ...

Using NWP as a CAT tool
Well, not exactly, but something like that. CAT (Computer Assisted Translation) tools are software that helps translators compare different versions of a document, and reuse existing translated text. This is usually done by dividing the original and translated documents in sentences (segments), comp...
