Re: Desired NWP 1.3 features
My main feature request remains Track Changes. With the advent of Pages '09 and with NWP's ability to truly export to .doc format, I find I really don't need Word anymore. NWP and Pages each offer things I need and if I export an Nisus document to Word format and open it in Pages, the Comments are p...

Re: Slower than Molasses In January
The .doc importer does take quite some time to load. It's an unfortunate characteristic of OpenOffice, which our importer is based off of, that we can't do much about. However, OpenOffice just released a new version, which we are looking to move to. Hopefully that can help in this regard. One thing...

Re: Slower than Molasses In January
Some day, PPC support will have to go. There are still a lot of PPC Macs around, and they will go on serving people very well for a long time, but they will be a diminishing proportion of the market. Nisus will have to ask the hard question: is continuing to serve the PPC users fully an appropriate...

New Word translator works well with Comments
I sense Track Changes will come because Comments now work with Word using the .doc format and not just .rtf. This is really helpful because it saves an extra translation. I've been working for some long time now on a collection of short stories (memoir, but all true, as opposed to some recent stuff ...

Re: Desired NWP1.2 Features
Track Changes, compatible with MSWord and with Pages. Hands down, no question. I would do handsprings if the next version of NWP offered this and nothing else. That would be my wish too. I've had great success with the Comments feature, although I do ask that Word-using students send me their docum...

Re: Desired NWP1.2 Features
My main wish for 1.2 would be a track-changes system similar to the one in Pages, though. Tracking changes in OOorg is a pain, and Pages can’t cope with tracked changes or comments in RTF documents (which I tend to use the most often). And I don’t really see the point in buying Office 2008 just for...

Pages 3 can import Office 2007 docx files. I'm not sure if this is what you mean, though. No, it's a feature added to TextEdit which I would assume NW would adopt since I believe NW uses the same engine as TextEdit. I also noticed Leopard adds a grammar checker so this would probably be added to NW...

NWP 1.0.1 needs your permission to update Nisus New File.dot, the template file on which every new Nisus document (unless specified otherwise) is based. You will need to do that in order to use NWP after the update, and you'll only need to click the Ok button.) If I already have a Nisus New File ju...

Does Pages replace NWP when I'm writing an article? Never. Does Pages do a much better job at making class documents, though, like handouts with graphics, charts, and docs such as syllabi and others? I would have to say yes. I just pretend that iWork '08 has one more program, and that program is NW...

I just pretend that iWork '08 has one more program, and that program is NWP. And with them all, I can finally say good riddance to Microsoft. And anything that allows me to do that is perfectly fine in my book. Scott That's a good way to put it. Pages is improved (in speed, especially) over Pages 2...

Joe, iWork '06 did not include Track Changes, only comments. Track Changes is a different thing, which tracks all deletions, additions, and changes to the document by each user. I must admit, all of the suite got a nice update, and Numbers is nice. I've been using it pretty exclusively for the last...

It might be worth getting a copy of iWork 08 to deal with this... It's a very low price for three great apps. And you can still use NWPro for your main writing, Pages would be an able page layout partner for it. Or save some money and find a copy of iWork 06 because that version of Pages also does ...

Pages has some problems with import/export of RTF, at least compared to Word. Pages can open a Word document in which I have a table of contents and it preserves everything (using Pages import for Word). It even recognizes comments/track changes from Word (and vice-versa.) But if you have a Pages do...

I am so grateful that Nisus doesn’t do that. After every abbreviation I would have to correct the wrong capitalisation, this “feature” would be almost useless. Using Word it is one of the first things I switch off since it never functions correctly. I do the same with Word. I get tired of typing a....

Re: bravo- thanks
I do only NWE and had to go find my license (no easy task) to get the $45 price.... I am sure it is worth full price, I know I am cheap...! side note, when I paid I was given the chance to download NWE, NOT NW-Pro. Demo was already being downloaded and accepted new license, so no problem...but I th...
