Re: Page Numbering

Obviously, from the tenor of the posts this should be dead easy - so easy, in fact, that it wasn’t necessary to include a reference to it in the “Manual”. However, with the various amendments to the original reply and other comments that followed I have got into a tangle. I am using v. 2.1.1. I hav...

Re: Next upgrade

I'm waiting eagerly for the next upgrade, hoping it fixed the spell check problems, which are getting so bad I'm going to have to switch. I don't like check as you type spellchecking because I take notes while on the phone, then fix them while reviewing them. With its multiple bugs and errors intro...

Autosave

If you want docs autosaved in the document manager to be kept you need to check Preferences->General "Keep new documents in document manager without asking me". If you don't have this option set it removes the doc manager's autosaved file when you quit the app or close the window (though i...

Re: Can't re-open file

Disaster, unless it can be fixed: I opened a Microsoft Word file (a carefully formatted bibliography). I worked on it for a while in Nisus then saved without changing the name or anything. Then closed the file Next day, I tried opening the same file with Nisus, but nothing happened. Wouldn't open. ...

Printing Problem With 2.1.1

I am not having this problem with 2.1.1, nor have I had it with any previous release of NWX. I can find no mention in any of the Nisus release notes of such a bug being addressed since 2.0. Printing problems like this are usually due to printer driver issues, what printer brand/model are you using? ...

Underline Problem

I just caused it to happen again in a fresh document: Type a 12-point word. Make it italic. Change it to 11.5 points. Remove the italics. Make it underlined. Here, that sequence results in the misplaced underline. Doing as you specified does not cause any underlining problem with 2.1 on my systems ...

Underlining

Eureka! It's a bug. 11.5-point text doesn't handle underlines correctly. 12-point does. And I beat my deadline. Thanks for the help! Not that I can see. I tested 2.1 with Courier at both 11.5-point and 12-point and they both underline just fine. They also print fine too. Was this a new Nisus-create...

Next Update

The current one is very stable for many users (it certainly is rock solid for me). The question is why is it crashing for some users and not others? In other threads here I've Nisus people say they have found a 2.1 bug involving interactive spell checking and rapidly opening and closing documents. I...

To b or not to b

The problem here is what is a beta release and what is not? When does a piece of software go from being alpha, beta, etc. to live/generally available/production? How many (known) bugs, and of what severity level, should prevent a new release from being, um, released? If the answer is zero then no so...

Flakey NWX 2.1 Behaviour

irev, I don't normally use Draft View so after reading of your problems I switched it on and updated some existing documents of mine, I also tried creating new documents. I get no jumping text, no white-line strike thrus, no chopped off characters, no crashes. NWX 2.1 runs perfectly smoothly for me ...

Early Adopter Blues

Todd, Is it only your large document(s) that seem to crash NWX? Have you tried any smaller documents to see if they have the problem or not? Has your large document grown significantly since it was working OK under NWX 2.1 for that week? It may well be a problem with big documents in general or mayb...

Early Disappointment with NWE

It seems you may be another victim of the recent redesign of Nisus's website--where all mention of the differences between the old NW 6.5 and the new NWE were expunged (marketing alas). As has been stated in this forum many, many times NWX (as the moniker "Express" in the name may hint) is...

Good performance and seems stable

I've been working on a 37 page document I created under NWX 1.1.2 over the w/e and so far it all seems to work fine. Loading the doc seems to take no longer than under 1.1.2 (and is much faster than the bad old days of 1.0.x). The first launch of 2.0 after a reboot is slow, but no slower than 1.1.2,...

Of course spring is just beginning here in the southern hemisphere. So maybe we need to ask Nisus "summer in which hemisphere?" Interesting but completely irrelevant fact: In Australia we begin each season on the first of the month, completely ignoring the astronomical realities of equinox...
