Re: Powerfind ninja needed for search question

Generally all of your solutions would be possible approaches, though some are easier to approach than others. Since you have the headlines already with a style you can just keep those and delete the ones before them. So find paragraphs that are followed by an identical paragraph. In Powerfind this w...

Re: Outline lists - missing the obvious

Putting aside the question of whether list styles should behave as Adrian thinks they should. Returning to my (second) point. "Outline" is not an outline feature. It is just a list style. There is no true Outline feature in Nisus. Instead some of the functionality of an Outline can be approximated u...

Re: Outline lists - missing the obvious

The Outline list style works fine for me. NWP 3.2

But it is just a list style. It is not a "real" outline.

To help avoid the need for everyone to revisit those threads full of revised versions of the macro, I can post the most recent version. Please report any problems.

Re: how do you move items up and down lists with keyboard shortcuts ?

I tried to do the same thing but this time create a folder for the added macros, and I could not see the folder when I wanted to assign a shortcut in pref→ menu keys I think the problem — and the reason why Adrian's method works — is that you need to switch out of Nisus and back in. Nisus doesn't u...

Re: don't understand how to type header shortcuts

I'm going to take a stab that Ronald is asking a much simpler question. In Nisus we have multi-key shortcuts. The important point is to hold the command key as you type the sequence of keys that make up the shortcut. So if the shortcut is <cmd>H1. You should do the following: Press and hold the <com...

Thank you, Martin.
I'm glad you were able to fix that. The problem and its solution would not have been obvious to me.

Re: Equation numbering methods.

If by "better way" you mean "numbers that update automatically and that can be placed elsewhere than the start of a paragraph", then the the answer is "no". But rather than using tables, I would recommend using a character style for the equation numbers, insert them physically ("hard coded") and the...

Re: Repeating table header row?

One workaround — which is a kludge with a capital K — is to put the header row into the actual header of those pages. Put a section break right before and after the table, and set to different headers for that section.

Re: Mysterious Control Character

While the question has obviously been well answered by now, I did want to answer one point. When I do that, the character is replaced by "\x". I'm pretty sure you are not looking at the result correctly. Ulrich's character was in a gigantic font so it was hard to see. But what you get when you use t...

Re: Mysterious Control Character

The character code says it's #202C which Unicode explains as "POP DIRECTIONAL FORMATTING".

I'm pretty sure you can delete it, if you don't need it.

Re: Formatting text of a cross-reference

Cross-references are supposed to take on the formatting of the text they are inserted into.
But in the preferences under appearances you can adjust the way they are visible. The default is that they are hidden but you can toggle them on.

Re: Macro and Powerfind

Is there a way with Powerfind to find some text and assign it to a variable that I can later use in either a prompt or a new find and replace command? Yes. First a bit about using $variable = … with find expressions. Note that you are using a 'a' option with your expression. This makes your express...
