Re: Weird paragraph style behavior with TOC

Can you or someone explain what that "Next Style" setting does or is. Hi loulesko, in case you haven't found out yourself: the "Next Style" setting indicates which style the next paragraph is going to be in. If "Heading 1" is configured with "Normal" as the &...

Don't worry, Martin is used to this. Just mention the words "vertical ruler" and see if you can get a reaction out of him... ;-)

Re: Open text file preference

Hi,

you can set this preference in the Finder. Ctrl-/right-click a text file, then select Get Info from the contextual menu. In the Get Info window, expand the Open With section, choose TextEdit from the list of applications, then click on Change All.

Re: Problems installing 3.3.2

Hi, there's no need to run an installer to install the application. Simply drag the application from the disk image (the window that opens up when you double-click the file you downloaded) to your Applications folder. Nisus Writer Express will then sit in your Applications folder, and you can open i...

Re: Inserting different headers

Hi, unfortunately, Nisus Writer Pro does not have a feature similar to Word's style fields, which allow you to have the current section title (as defined by one of your heading styles) displayed automatically in each section. As a result, you have to create section breaks and insert the header manua...

Re: Nisus to PDF hyperlinks are lost

Hi Paolo, Word for Mac cannot do this, either. Not that many Nisus users would care, but I just thought I should point this out, with Word being the most widely used word processor on the Mac. That being said, I can clearly understand your point, and I would like to add my voice to the chorus; this ...

Re: NWE loses page numbers when importing Word DOC file

Hi JT, the import filters in Nisus Writer Pro are different from those used in Nisus Writer Express, and they are certainly more capable. I managed to open your document in Nisus Writer Pro with the page numbers intact (albeit on the left side of the footer area). The problem results from an idiosyn...

Hi, to get rid of all the tabs in a document, bring up the Find window (Cmd+F), make sure PowerFind Pro is selected in the dropdown field labelled "Using", then enter "\t+" (without the quotation marks) in the "Find what:" field. Leave the "Replace with:" fiel...

Re: tracking changes

Hi Iain, Nisus Writer Pro does not support tracked changes. "Tracked changes" simply means that any change you make to the document will be saved and displayed separately from the regular text, so that other people can accept or reject the changes you have made. This feature is supported i...

Re: Transferring docs from Nisus Express to Nisus Pro?

There is no need whatsoever to transfer documents from Nisus Writer Express to Nisus Writer Pro; both use RTF as the default file format, so a document created with Express will open just fine in Nisus Writer Pro.

Re: Text blocks in the margin

In many word processors, you would use text boxes for that; unfortunately, Nisus Writer Pro does not have this feature. You could simply create a table with two columns, placing your main text in the left column and the additional text in the right one. This might be fine for the occasional paragrap...

Re: Convert All Italics to Underline

Hi midwinter, you won't need any macros for this. Simply place the cursor inside a word that is italicised, then click on the tiny black "a" button in the lower right corner of your document window. Choose "Select all" from the contextual menu, and Nisus Writer Pro will select al...

Re: Full Screen Printing Challenge

I second that. I have a dual monitor setup, with Nisus Writer Pro on one, in full screen view, and my outline in OmniOutliner on the other. If I switch to OmniOutliner to edit the outline, Nisus Writer Pro always exits full screen view, thus forcing me to activate it again when I switch back. This i...

When in Style Sheet view, select the style, then enable the ruler and add a tab stop by clicking on the ruler.
