Re: How to create a variable for "Any digit"?

$searchRange = Range.new(0, $selection.location) $foundSelection = $selection.text.find('\d+', 'Er', $searchRange ) That's been one of those features that I have been looking for for some time now. Seems it was introduced in NW 3.0 but it slipped by me for some reason. :drunk: I'm glad you'll get s...

Re: How to create a variable for "Any digit"?

There are many ways to skin this cat 🙀 I'd probably want to ask myself: how can I leverage the power of regular expressions (regex). Philip already provided a nice solution that lets you use \d to match any digit. However, I'd prefer to generalize this so your code doesn't have to care about the len...

Re: Table header repeating on multiple pages

I'm afraid not. There is currently no way to automatically repeat table headers on each page. You'll need to manually repeat such table rows, sorry!

Re: NWP 3 High CPU useage File Converter

I'm sorry that the Nisus File Converter is using high CPU on your Mac. That's a bug in Nisus Writer that we're tracking down. We'll need to fix it for a software update. In the meantime you can simply "force quit" the converter. That's completely safe and Nisus Writer will restart it automatically i...

Re: No License key for App Store, so how to I get out of demo mode?

Hi just bought Pro after using the Demo. When I clicked on startup to register, it told me that people who bought on the app store (for 8000 yen) don't have licenses. That it is linked to my account. But it seems the message to register still pops up. What is the solution? Thanks If you purchased N...

Re: Auto-fix option for double-caps

Nisus Writer has such an option (in our QuickFix preferences), but only for text that occurs at the start of a sentence. I can see how this correction might be useful elsewhere. Thanks for the suggestion.

Re: Powerfind question

But I feel I'm getting too old to start learning the arcana of RegEx code! Regex codes are arcane indeed 🧙🏻‍♂️ They're amazingly powerful, but hard to keep straight unless you use them often enough– just like most skills. It never ceased to amaze me that a student could send me their CV/Resumé for ...

Re: Powerfind question

Adryan is right about the greediness of Regular Expressions, which is what PowerFind and Powerfind Pro use. However, a question mark in the wrong spot in the wrong spot can turn off greedy regular expression parsing That's exactly right. You can turn a greedy search into a lazy or non-greedy search...

Re: PDF anomaly with Chinese

Thanks for sharing the wisdom of your experiences Mark! You're right that this is a long-standing Apple bug that affects certain fonts and languages when generating PDF data. Trying to copy (or find) text in the PDF does not work properly because the underlying text was incorrectly encoded. It's a n...

Re: Bug? Nisus 3 seemingly randomly "Typesetting Text..." and sluggish, 50% CPU use, in long doc already open for hours

Frequently I have to add, say, 70 or so full page PDF graphics as sort of an appendix. When I do that, saving the document becomes long, not quite sure why. Like, 5 to 10 seconds long. I'm sorry for the autosaving delays. The problem is almost certainly the size of your images (in bytes on disk). T...

Re: Bug? Nisus 3 seemingly randomly "Typesetting Text..." and sluggish, 50% CPU use, in long doc already open for hours

1. Suppose I'm working in Long Document A. I then also open another one, Long Document B, check something in it, and then continue working in Long Document A. (I do this a lot). a) If I leave Document B open, is Nisus occupying itself trying to Typeset all of Document B, which will then interfere w...

Re: runaway Nisus File Converter

After communicating privately with Brad, it seems the problem was caused by the Nisus File Converter being incorrectly activated by the Finder. For whatever reason macOS tried to launch the converter when opening DOCX files in the Finder. That's undesirable because the converter is not a normal app....

Re: Large selections—like 20k words—showing no word, par., or char. counts (bug?)

It seems the number of countable words in a selection is a proportion of the total number of words in a file. In a file of 3,083,437 words I was able to have a selection with 1,694,545 words counted. The word limit will depend on a lot of factors, including the speed of your Mac, if your document h...
