Track changes suddenly disappear?

I have been editing my manuscript recently, with the master file (in Scrivener) on the left and the editor's file open in Nisus on the right. I scroll through both files and am applying the changes by hand (because I want to check through each one).

After doing 20% of the book this way, suddenly all of the track changes flew WAY off to the right, to the point where I can't see them any more. I'm not aware of having done anything to cause this, and I haven't been able to find a fix. Can you help me?

(I've enclosed a pic of the right-hand side of the editor's manuscript, to show you what I mean.)

And....in the meantime, I've figured out how to fix this: I unselect View: Tracked Changes, and then reselect it.

I've had to do this 12 more times. I'm only halfway through my manuscript. Is this a common error? As far as I can tell, all that I am doing before the tracked changes are sent off screen is deleting the previous change.

This is adding time to my editing process...most of the reason I got Nisus was to replace Word, but if it causes me this much extra work, I might have to bite the bullet and put Word back on my system (having been MS free for a decade now, I'd really like to avoid this).

It sounds like maybe your document's Track Changes pane somehow becomes minimized, ie: near to zero width. The pane can be resized using the vertical divider:

In that screenshot I've highlighted the divider using a red rectangle. If you drag that divider all the way to the right, the pane is barely visible at the edge of the document, which might account for the situation you described. When you toggle the menu View > Track Changes twice, the first time hides the barely visible pane, and the second time both shows it and makes sure it's a reasonable width.

I don't believe this is a common problem. And even if the minimized pane theory holds, it still doesn't explain how the pane becomes minimized. It certainly shouldn't happen unless you're taking some action, like dragging, but I assume you'd be aware of such a thing. Is there something that seems to trigger the problem? Does the pane disappear while the document is open and being edited, or at some other time?

The next time the problem occurs, you might send in a report using the menu Help > Send Feedback. Please be sure to enable diagnostic information, so we can take a look at the logs for anything unusual. Thanks for your help, hopefully we can get this annoyance solved for you.
