Nisus New File not working as default

Hello Martin (or anyone else),

I have just had a reinstall of all the apps on my computer, due to a botched system update. What resulted included certain problems with Nisus:

1. My dictionary additions were lost (but our IT man restored them)

2. My default new page is different from the Nisus New File.dot file —different font, different tabs, different font size. I even pulled in the old Nisus New File.dot from my backup, but this has not changed anything. The Nisus New File.dot is stored in the documents/Nisus Documents/templates/Nisus New File.dot, where the old one was.

Am I understanding incorrectly what determines what the default appearance of a newly opened blank file looks like?

Your help will be apprecaited

Hello Simeon! The problem is most likely that Nisus Writer is no longer loading the template file you expect and desire. Try this:

1. Open your preferences.
2. Switch to the "New File" pane.
3. Click the "Advanced" tab.
4. Underneath the heading "Template File: Nisus New File" make sure the file's location is as you expect.

If the targeted file isn't what you expect, click the "Choose" button to correct the problem. I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any trouble.
