I used to be able to get callouts to work, but now (I suppose since going to 2.1.7), they just look similar to regular text boxes. I'm using the icon for Text Box and then the item "Callout - Speech Box".

Maybe someone could see if they can get it to work and let me know. If it works for you, it must be that I'm doing something wrong. Thank you!

Mac OS = Yosemite (10.10.5).

A call-out has just a single line, and a speech box has two lines that form a triangle. Under certain circumstances the two lines can overlap so that they look like a single line. If "stroke" is set to none they look the same. The "triangle" of the speech box is filled with the fill color, but with the call-out there is nothing to fill.

Thanks for jogging my memory! I think I was just confused about which was what. I wanted the "Callout, Rounded Speech Box", but was selecting something else (and maybe stroke was set to zero, which further confused me). I think I get it now
