This page describes how to revert to an older version (eg: Nisus Writer Pro version 2.0.7), after having used a sandboxed version (eg: Nisus Writer Pro version 2.1)
Why is this necessary?
The first time you launch a sandboxed version of Nisus Writer, all your existing Nisus settings and support files are moved inside Nisus Writer's sandbox container. That is necessary because a sandboxed application only has access (by default) to data inside its sandbox. If the files were not inside Nisus Writer's sandbox, Nisus Writer would not have permission from Mac OS X to use that data.
If you ever opened a sandboxed version of Nisus Writer, and for some reason need to revert to an older version that is not sandboxed (while keeping all your settings intact), you will need to move the sandboxed files back out of the sandbox. The files will need to reside in the locations expected by the older version of Nisus Writer.
How To Revert
The easiest way to revert is to use a Perl script: After you download that attached script, follow these instructions:
1. Quit all versions of Nisus Writer.
2. Restart your Mac.
3. Launch the Terminal utility application.
4. In the Terminal, run the downloaded Perl script by typing:
5. Follow any instructions and read any warnings the script may have given.
Code: Select all
6. Launch the older version of Nisus Writer Pro.
All your settings should now be restored. If you customized your Document Manager location, you may need to reselect its location in your Nisus Writer preferences, under "Doc Manager".
