What is the practical limit for the User dictionary in 6.5

Please can anyone tell me what the maximum size of the user dictionary is for NW 6.5? I need about 18,000 words... is this likley to cause a problem? MS Word seems to get quirky at about 12,000 words, and I don't want to put a lot of work into creating a large user dictionary only to find it fall over at some point...
