Post subject:  NW 6.5.1 Installer won't install

Greetings:

Can Nisus 6.5.1 be installed on a 603 PPC Mac (a 6320)? The installer refuses to install with a "type -199 error". If not, what's the highest level Nisus which can be?

Thank you.

Where did you find 6.5.1? I only see 6.5.

I suppose I should also try to be helpful. What System version are you using? This page: http://www.nisus.com/NisusWriter/ suggests that you need 8.5 to run 6.5. 6.0.1 will run on 7.1 to 8.0.

Thanks for your replies. Very reassuringly prompt for any feedback board! Thanks!

True, NW 6.5, not 6.5.1. I was thinking of someone elses' 6.5.1...

I am using a Performa 6320 with 48 native RAM without RAM-Doubler installed, using a CD OS 9.04 upgraded to OS 9.1 which is my main mode. My 10 gig HD is partitioned into OS 7.6.1 and OS 8.1. as well as OS 9.1 if that makes any difference (it seems to for Aladdin's MagicMenu). I test-booted my system both in OS 9.1 All and OS 9.1 Base but no go. At first I thought maybe the "GetDemoRedirect 5.php" file somehow got corrupted in being uncompressed into "Nisus®Writer6.5Installer" but if that was so, it wouldn't fully decompress would it? Maybe it's a reach of oversight, but since the "php" suffix suggests a G3+ or OS 9/OS X system, maybe this NW version can't boot in older PPC systems. I dunno. You guys are the mavens. Help!

Thanks!

Actually, I am just a user, and at this point, mostly an OS X user at that. As a result, I think you have exhausted my ideas. If you don't get a response in the next couple days, try support@nisus.com. They seem to be pretty good about replying.

Post subject:  Was Able to Load 6.5 -- But a "Different" One

Greetings All!

Curious, curiouser...

I managed to load NW 6.5 on my 6320 -- after downloading a whole new copy from the Nisus website by another link on the the page. The hotlink that's titled "Get A 30-Day Demo" yields a nw65.bin file while using the hotlink titled "Download a 30-day demo from our site (PPC only)" yielded a GetDemoRedirect 5.php file. The NE65.bin worked like a charm while the GetDemoRedirect 5.php uncompressed into the installer which didn't want to install, but broke out into a "type -199 error" instead.
I think I unwittingly downloaded a OS-X only version the first time (the GetDemoRedirect 5.php) which doesn't seem to be online anymore. If anyone wants to check it out I'll see how I could somehow (because I never used it) use the Public access folder of my .Mac account .
So far, after just 5 minutes into the night with it, NW looks great .
