Is there a way to do this? As it is now, it's too small and almost illegible. I don't see a setting for this in Preferences -- or a style.

I don't use NWE, but in NWP this is done by applying 'Zoom In' from the View menu when the Find window is active. You can try this. If the zoom feature is not available in Find in NWE, you can simply increase the font size from the Format:Size menu.
