Importing to Quark Xpress

I am unable to import text into Quark Xpress 4.1.1. I've tried Plain Text, MS Word and RTF. Only the Plain Text document appears in the Get Text window, but Quark can't read quotation marks. Do I need a plug-in other than MS Word, which I already have?

It's not a direct answer but it might be worth asking: Have you tried using Create <
www.stone.com> instead of Quark?
XPress can only import Word binary format

When you select the file in the GetText window which kind of file and filter is using Quark?
RTF is not supported by Quark Filters.
Quark Word filter can only import only a Word Binary file (.doc).
To be recognized by Quark filetr as Word documents, file to import does need to have correctly set the file type (W6BN or W8BN).
