Language Translation

Post by penguinmedic »

I see that the newest version has added language support. Does anyone know if this support includes any type of language translation?

Language Translation

Post by rmark »

Peter,

Nisus Writer Express does not support language translation.

What you ask for is not quite technically possible. Machine translation, though much progress has been made, is still very primitive. It remains near the state it was in the late '50s or early '60s when the CIA (I am told) tested it with the following phrase which started as a standard American idiom, was translated into Russian and then back to English:

The winner gets the garbage.

What was the original American idiom?

Peter (penguinmedic and others),

I apologize for the mistaken identity.

Does anyone have a solution to the translation problem?

Peter, et. al.,

No.

I'll post the correct translation in a week (unless someone figures it out in the meantime).
