Stripped character styles
Stripped character styles
Here's an interesting phenomenon I just discovered. I pasted in some text into a 2.0 style sheet template, applied paragraph styles to it, then discovered that all the character formatting (bold, italics, etc.) had been stripped off. Bummer. Why does applying a paragraph style strip off the character formatting?

This is intentional since paragraph styles have character formatting also. During testing, we initially did not remove all other formatting when the user applies a style. However, we found that it confused users more and created lots of situations where their files had subtle formatting issues.
This way at least you are likely to catch and to intuitively understand the reason your formatting has changed so you can make it right.
