Figure captions

Post by Hans-U »

Is there a way of adding a figure caption to an imported graphic? Preferably it should be editable and stay attached to the graphic.

Thanks for any suggestion(s)

You can link your graphic to a paragraph -- and you can make that paragraph your caption -- so the picture and the paragraph move together if you remove or add text ahead of them in the document.

The other alternative, which I haven't tried, would be to add a caption in your graphics program and make that part of what you import as an image.

If the graphic is inline then you can apply the "keep with next paragraph" option to the graphic and it will stay on the same page as the text following it. If you want to add a caption to a floating graphic then your only option is to add the caption as part of the graphic itself.
