nisus new file.dot & page formatting

Post by disfasia »

I am preparing my template and I cannot figure how to have page numbers appear in the template after page 1 without showing page one. (And yes, I kown to check :first page different" box, but this is not working. Please read on.) I do NOT want to have the template be more than a page in order not to waste paper in the event of the doc being only one page. is there a way that i can have the page numbers automatically start at page two without my new file.dot being more than one page?

thanks

Here's what to do:

1. Start a new document.
2. In the Header/Footer palette check the "different first page" option.
3. Fill the document with enough (random) content to show page two.
4. Enter in your 2nd page header with the page number.
5. Delete the random content you entered to force the 2nd page.
6. Save it as a template.

If the document does ever hit page 2 or beyond again, the header will show just as you configured in step 4.
