The glossary of abbreviations does not recognize the letter o at the end of an abbreviation. For instance I have abbreviations "d" and "int" and the glossary opens the abbreviations after I type "do" or "into".

You are right. I just noticed the same; some other letters may be affected as well, for example 'p'. I hope this will be fixed.

A quick test reveals that all these letters are affected in the same way:
b, c, l, o, p, v, x, z.

I just gave it a try and didn't have any issues, at least not with "o". Could one of you send along your set of glossary files? Please send them using the menu Help > Send Feedback or to the email below, thanks.

I'm having the same problem with "e". I have an abbrev for "h" (= holistic) and one for "sh" (= stress hormones). But when I type the words "he" or "she" the glossary-expanded words show up in the middle! As in "holistice" and "stress hormonese".

Yes -- I was wondering whether your setting of keyboard speed in the System Prefs would affect NW's speed of responding to the keystroke trigger. I gather that things have speeded up in X.5.x (I'm still on X.4.11, so I can't test it, and I don't use Quickfix anyway apart from Smart Quotes; I prefer Ti4M so it covers all programs), so I am wondering whether, under this faster regime, NW is kind of sitting there, getting bored, waiting for you to add the next character, and then thinks "Oh well, I could be here all day; may as well stick in the fix". If that was the case, then setting the keyboard for slower response might remove the problem. Or not if NW doesn't take into account keyboard response speed.

Or is there a trigger that I can't see in the NW help and there is a problem with NW not waiting for that now. In Ti4M, you can set a another character, including invisible characters, to be the trigger that activates the abbreviation; I use sxzpace, return or tab, so e.g. g-h-space (or return or tab) = Geoffrey Heard; typing "g" then "h" is the abbreviation, and then typing the space (or return or tab) is the trigger that activates it.

Or I might be totally confused and in need of a stiff brandy (Metaxa 5 Star, please) despite the fact that it is 9 in the morning here?

Now I will type s-g-5 and space and get ...

I'm on X.4.11 myself. I believe that speed doesn't make any difference — Glossary treats the "e" like a space or punctuation mark and expands an entry in there.

Another problem I'm having is that it won't recognize an apostrophe as something it SHOULD expand for, so, for example, if I type mm I get "mainstream medicine", but if I type mm's I get mm's. I didn't have this happen, either, with the previous version of NWP.

Typing speed doesn't affect this particular bug.

As for the apostrophe's, that was an intentional change made in response to some requests we received. However, now that the change is done it appears there are an equal number (or more) users that do want the apostrophe to count as an expansion trigger. We have a feature request filed to allow the user to customize this.

Customizing the apostrophe thing sounds good. Oh -- and while you're there, put me down for wanting "Track Changes", too, and that they should communicate nicely with Word. My editor uses Word and wants to use Track Changes when we send a manuscript back and forth, but I'm a Nisus devotee! How I'd love to see a Nisus version of Track Changes show up by, say, March of '09, which is when I'll need it! Tee hee hee.
Meanwhile, I eagerly await your fix for the glossary bug!
