Edit Line Wraps and Indent

Post by Noguchi »

Following the advice below, I upgraded to Express 3.0.2. Both for the
main text and for the foot notes, I select all and change First Line Indent,
Left Indent and Right Indent to 1.2 in, 1.2 in and 7.3 in, respectively.
However, Right Indent immediately goes back to 7.31 in instead of 7.3 in.
(7.3 in means 8.5 in minus 1.2 in.) I'm afraid it's automatic. Do you have
any suggestions?

Hello,

Thanks for sending your document along. We've taken a look and the
problem lies with the version of Express you're using. Specifically
version 2.7 has some layout oddities when there are long (or many)
footnotes. If you upgrade to Express 3.0.2 or Pro 1.1 you should find
that your footnotes appear on the page in the way you would expect.
Unfortunately neither of these upgrades are free.

I hope this helps,

This looks to be some kind of rounding or display bug. I don't think there's any way for you to work around it, so hopefully you can live with that 0.01" difference. I doubt the difference would have any effect whatsoever on the placement of your text.

Yes, this happens all the time in tab-placement, for instance. You're talking about 1/100 of an inch, which would just about need someone with a magnifying-glass to detect. I use generally use centimetres as my measure for a number of reasons, and can get a similar rounding problem, but .01 cm is smaller than .01 inch.

Yeah, the difference is going to be imperceivable. The problem is however still filed as a bug and hopefully we'll fix it sometime- I could understand being frustrated by the rounding error.
