Nisus 1.3 does not open .doc files

It opens them fine for me. To help diagnose the problem we'll need more information about your setup and what the symptoms are. E.g. What model Mac are you using? What release of Mac OS X? Have you tried more than one .doc file? If so can NWP open any of them? What language is OS X set to? And finally, when you try to open the .doc files what error message(s) or other symptoms do you get from NWP?

There have been problems reported opening .doc files with NWP 1.2 when OS X is using languages other than English due to flaws in the Open Office MS Word translator used by NWP (if OS X is set to other than English then things like accented or Asian characters in the .doc file's name, or its path, can cause .doc translation to fail), they probably affect 1.3 as well. Could this be your problem perhaps?

I use Mac pro with Mac OS 10.5.7.
I tried many files and none of them opened.
I receive the message:

The document could not be opened
There were problems reading the document
that prevented us from opening it.
If you are willing to send this file to Nisus Software,
we will look into fixing the problem for a future release.

i sent an error message to Nisus once.
I had no such problem with Nisus 1.2.

Hi Ruth- when you see that error message, could you submit the file to us and then let me know the name of the problem file? I can look in the log and hopefully see what the problem could be.

dshan is right though- certain configurations of OSX's international preferences can still prevent our ".doc" importer from working properly. That might be the problem you are running into.

Could it be that you have a leading language other than english?

Hi Martin, thanks for answering. I submitted several error messages yesterday and today. All simple doc file in English.
It happens with all doc files. R.

Hi Martin, I solved the problem:
The icon of Nisus 1.2 was not deleted from the dock.
For some reason it affected the opening of DOC
files and not of RTF files.

I'm surprised that caused a problem- you should be able to run both versions at once if you really want to. Well, I'm just glad you got it working.
