When you open a file in NWP, by default it is open with the view it had when last saved. Suppose you save a file while in Page View. When you reopen it, say, to just check the spelling, which doesn’t require a layout, it may take a very long time. I think a solution to this would be an “open with view” option in the preferences. Something like this:
Open a file in: 1) Draft View; 2) Page View; 3) Last Saved View;
Where 1 through 3 are a drop-down menu.
If implemented, this should spare a lot of thumb-twiddling when not needed.

Re: Open With This View Option?
Henry,
Thank you. You raise an interesting thought. However, I would prefer to make this choice on a file-by-file basis. File A I want to open in Draft View, but files B and C in Page View. Presuming that you're working on "recent files", I think it might be more useful to have a sub-menu, or some modifier that enabled you to determine the "View Option" as you open the file. Even so, I don't imagine that this would get high on the "to do" list.

Even better, Mark, even though this won’t get to the top of the to-do’s. As it is, I take a special care not to save huge documents in page view.
