I figure I need to add it in the Style for the related headings. However, when I tried to type in a tab, it doesn't work. Is there some code to input there?
Thank you. Yes, I think that Option[Alt]-Tab is what works.
However, I was surprised to find that didn't exactly do what I wanted.
What is happening is this:
I want create a Table of Contents based on an outline. Nisus is stripping out the tabs between the, say, "I." and the text and replacing them with spaces. Is there a way to make NWP retain the tabs there?
I see this, but I can't seem to get NWP to allow a tab character there.

Thanks for that info. Maybe I just need to do what I'm doing differently.
I was marking the entire heading for the TOC. That way the "I." or "A." or "1." carried over. I can just set it up so only the actual sentence of the heading is marked for TOC and then have NWP apply the Outline paragraph style. The reason I wanted to do it the first way was so that I could see clearly in the TOC (a stripped-down outline, actually) whether everything was in fact numbered correctly in the body of the document and if the points were properly parallel. I'll try a different approach.
