Sorry for not checking back sooner. I received an email saying there was a response and then only saw now that some other questions had been asked. I am writing in the Kazak language, the alphabet as used in China.
Lets see, the letters I need are (according to the Unicode Arabic Code pages)
0639 - ع
0642 - ق
06AD - ڭ
Also the 06C7 - ۇ often is shaped quite different from how it is actually shaped for Kazak; some fonts do it how I need it, most don't.
Now, in some cases it looks like a letter similar to what I need is inserted in the text, but it is clearly from another font! And of course it doesn't join.
OTF? VOLT?
Re: OTF? VOLT?
You can use Scheherazade Regular (AAT) or Lateef Regular (AAT).
These fonts have the characters you need and they work with NWE/NWP.
You can download these free fonts from:

Re: OTF? VOLT?
Thank you for your reply.
Right now I am using UKIJ Zilwa, but it would be nice to have more options.
In the (hopefully) attached screenshot, you can see that the text in UKIJ Zilwa is perfect, including how "flat" it is (Kazak rarely gets too swirly).
You can see there is a joining problem with the "i" in Al Bayan, Decotype Naskh, TITUS, Winsoft Naskh Pro, and X Arabic.
There is a shaping problem for the NG in Al Bayan, Decotype Naskh, Lateef, Riwaj, Scheherazade, (and in some of the other fonts the three dots are almost too high, they might be ok, but they do look al little odd).
The U is exactly as it should look in UKIJ Zilwa, but wonky in all the rest except MS Uighur, UKIJ Esilye Tom, Uyghur Edit Sulus (but then these last two have joining problems with the hard G).
Geeza Pro looks usable for some uses (the U-ۇ is shaped differently, but not terribly so I guess), as does Arial, FreeSans, Lucinda Grande, Myriad Pro, all fonts that as far as I can recall didn't work in previous NWPs. Now they do! Great, thanks Nisus team!
