As for summer time in NZ vs summer time in UK -- the difference is 6 months.

Well, yes, obviously, except that the switch is not on the same weekend, if I remember rightly ... just like European Summer Time changes are on different dates from British Summer Time changes.

And of course the problem is our British insularity ... everybody else seems to manage to switch summertime on and off on the same day, so why we can't, or why we have to insist on being different beats me~
