Keep navigation TOC folded after hiding it

Post by Axbax »

Hi, is there a way to keep the headings folded in the navigation TOC after hiding/showing the navigation pane? Working on a book project it is rather annoying to fold all chapter headings after hiding/showing the navigation. Thanks in advance!

This looks like a bug. Toggling the visibility of the TOC navigator pane should not change which TOC entries are expanded vs collapsed.

The current behavior seems inconsistent. Sometimes the collapsed state is preserved and sometimes it isn't. In fact, if I toggle the visibility twice (e.g. hide navigator, show navigator, hide navigator, and show navigator) the correct collapsed state is restored. So that may be a workaround for now. As annoying as double toggling is, it's probably better than not being able to restore the collapsed state at all.

Another tip: holding down the Shift key as you click the disclosure triangle next to a TOC entry will expand (or collapse) all entries in your document with the same TOC level. This can be useful in tucking away all the deeper entries, which are usually less useful for navigation purposes.

Thanks for the feedback Ken! We'll have to look at getting this fixed.
