Table of contents, list of tables, list of figures...

Ups. My initial problem has gone away. Don't know why...
Here a revised question:
When making additional tables of contents, why isn't there an option that makes it easy to select all list items of a certain type (figure captions, table caption etc.) at once and add them to a new TOC? Or did I miss that option?
Thanks!

We don't have this feature exactly, but there are ways to do accomplish what you'd like. Two options which might be helpful depending on your circumstance:
1. You can add "include in TOC" as an attribute that your paragraph style defines. For example, if you have a "Table Caption" paragraph style you can select it in the stylesheet and then choose the "include" menu.
This is probably the best way to go, as new table captions that you create will automatically be marked for inclusion in the TOC.
2. Use the "Select All" menu from one of the style tags (the little square icons at the bottom right of every document window). For example, if you want all items in a particular list style in the TOC:
a. Place your caret in a paragraph with that list style.
b. Click the list style tag and choose Select All from the popup menu.
c. Now choose the "include" menu for the desired TOC level.
With this method you'll have to manually add newly created items to the TOC.

Martin,
It might be useful to remember that Nisus can generate more than a single TOC (it's so fantastic, that at first it doesn't seem obvious). So, you can have, for example, a General TOC, a List of Figure Captions, and a List of Table Cations.
You can create them in Insert > TOC > TOC Setup, clicking on New. Then, the new TOC can be activated with Insert > TOC >
- .
At this point, a "Figure Caption" para style can be created, and included, say, as Level 1 in the active TOC, by way of the Insert > TOC > Include in TOC > Level 1 command. The tag should appear in the style editor sheet.
Apply the Figure Captions style to all captions, and then just geenrate the List of Figure Captions by using the Insert > TOC > Insert TOC command.

Good point Paolo- setting up multiple TOCs in conjunction with your paragraph styles makes updating your document very easy.

I am using Nisus Pro 2.0.7 and have been trying to create a TOC for figures and failing reliably. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.
I have created a second TOC called “List of Figs” and I confirm it is active in Tools>Table of Contents. Under Tools>Configure TOC Styles…, I have checked “Include page numbers” and “Use tabs to align page numbers” and formatting is set for “Level 1” and paragraph style TOC1.
I created a style called “Figure” that I have applied to the captions of my 7 figures. When I look at the “Figure” style, I see that the text is centered and: “In TOC ‘List of Figs’, Level 1”. When I choose Tools>Select Next in TOC, the program jumps to the next figure. Yet never are the figures compiled into the new TOC. If I highlight a figure’s caption text, the TOC levels are greyed out, so I cannot add it to the TOC that way, either.
Regardless of what I do, when I choose Tools>Insert TOC I get the same message: [No entries for this table of contents.]
How can I get this second TOC to work?
It would be very nice to have a contextual menu option to add highlighted text to a specific TOC.

I have figured out how to create a table of contents and insert it in the document, but it is not hyperlinked. I can't seem to find anyplace to tell it to be hyperlinked in the document. What am I missing?
