When I change the character style to italics in a footnote, the word(s) disappear completely.
Am I doing something wrong?
Thank you,

It may be the same problem/bug already reported in this forum. changing format of footnotes causes some viewing problems. try saving the text and reopening the file to see whether the word re-appears.
By the way- this bug was suppose to be fixed in the 1.03 release. Do you work with it? may be it is another one to be reported.

Ruchama,
thanks for the tip; it actually worked. And yes, I am working with 1.0.3, so it doesn't seem to be fixed.

Dieter, can you send in a report using the menu Help > Send Feedback after the problem occurs? It would help to have a copy of your document. Also, how are you changing the characters style exactly? Are you doing so to the Footnote style in the Style Sheet view, or directly applying a different font or style to your footnote text?
Thanks for your help guys.

Martin,
I am applying the change directly in the text of the footnote.
