Problems with SPECIAL CHARACTERS in the EDIT menu

Hi,
I have a MacBook running at 2.2GHz 2GB RAM and Leopard (10.5.2).
When I use my NISUS WRITER PRO (1.0.3) and trying to open the
"SPECIAL CHARACTERS" box in the "EDIT" menu-bar, nothing happens...
I don't know what to do. I've tried to uninstall and install again, but still...
nothing happens.
When I try to do the same on my Mac-Mini 1.66GHz 1GB RAM Leopard
10.5.2., it works well.
What can I do to resolve this?
Thanks

Hi -
as this is to "Show Character Palette" - you need to have this component activated: "System Preferences/International/Input Menu" and don't forget to activate "Show input menu in menu bar" there as well.
Hope this helps

I don't have the "Character Palette" option in my "INPUT MENU".....
How can this happen? Maybe it's because I used the software "MONOLINGUAL"? Maybe it's because of something else?

Well -
but it's still selectable in "System Preferences/International/Input Menu" - I guess, or not? Scroll down maybe? As I wrote you need to select, i.e activate it, to have it available via Input Menu for all applications then. It won't show on default.

The menu Edit > Special Characters will always be visible. The one Elbrecht mentions is an optional menu that appears in a different location.
Seraph, does the Edit > Special Characters menu work in other applications, eg: TextEdit?

Yeah -
Martin is right - you even seem to be able to activate the Character Palette for Input Menu by just going Edit/Special Characters! Didn't know that shortcut!
